If I had to guess: Alzolay would be ready by then.

And Bears: not really a issue with him. He is a common arm that you would find in any system. I’m glad that he did well in his stint. But again: his career S/O per 9 is short form what you would want to see from a BP arm. He is coming in here filling a role. That is it. Let’s not try to make him into more than that.

I would say the same about any arm that Theo is trying to find a diamond.

What career K per 9?
His minor league career?
It at 8.7, mostly as a starter
His year plus as a reliever he had a 8.9 K/9 last year and 11.9 this year

These were his first 7 games in the Majors, he pitched very well..

He pitched 10 innings and struck out 10 hitters ..

His 8.7 SO9 is just 1 under Morrows

The only thing I'm Making him to be right now is one of the better reliever on this team...

You enjoyed the first World Series in a century largely due to the efforts of that "damn" pitcher.
Don't make it not comical to see him bounce balls to bases

Cubs are 22-10 when Almora starts

Maybe he goes 0fer in this game but he probably catches that ball and saves 2 runs that inning and were watching a different game right now..

Lester don't make those extra pitches and who knows maybe he not struggling here in the 3rd

Lester does what Heyward can not. Gets a hit.

And scores on a HR.

Niice work getting that man over after a 1-out double.

Seems second base is the issue. if you can't make it a triple, stay at first! :)

Mr. Almora, your son is doing well
Go dig up some more articles that tells us the cubs are doing bad because of 3 of their SP...

Who knew that was part of the problem

Try 6.99 SO/9 Career minors. http://m.mlb.com/player/606995/justin-hancock?year=2018&stats=career-r-pitching-minors

vs 2018 8.71 SO/9 with the Cubs.

But of course 10.1 career major league innings over rides 534 minor league innings. or his 1.52 WHIP.

Just go back to your Almora love fest. I'm in agreement with that one.

Those "Pop up drills" Chili Davis has been putting the guys through are really paying off. They're doing so at a great clip.

CF:
UZR/150: Almora: 19.4. Happ: 4.7

You are not losing value with Happ out there but Almora is playing at GG level.

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.a...am=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=24,d

Almora leads all at 19.4 with Cain #2 at 18.0.

Honestly he should be every day and arguing against him is plain ignorant and mean.

Baseball reference I looked at added his cubs stats..
Other one I just looked at has it at 7.0 SO/9

But interesting his 4 seasons at AAA level it's at 9.1 SO/9, so it improved as he moved up ...

And yes seeing a guy have success at the major league level has meaning even if it just the beginning of it..

You can't just dismiss he had good success in his first 10 major league innings and brush it off because you don't care for his SO9 in the minors..

He throwing mid to upper 90s ,striking guys out and getting outs, what more do you want

I don't get how we're not losing value with Happ in CF over Almora.

I do know we lose ballgames when he is there. Two in a week due to his D alone.

The odds are not with him.

If I have any issue going on it is in Theo dumpster diving vs giving his own draft picks a shot. We used to joke about it in the rebuild and all but look he has had enough time to produce "a" arm. (other than Edwards (traded for) or Hendricks (traded for). And pushing out dumpster dives is fine and all for filler. Shoot they did the same with Mills and Butler and Montgomery. Some work out and some don't.

I personally will be more excited if Underwood (sandwich pick in Almora's draft) or Alzolay make it because it signals that yes they can develop their own pitching which impacts the future more than playing rent-a-wreck

Picked on heyward for making an out, and he adds two hits since, to be 3-4. Keep it up!

According to who?
You

We have no idea what kinda career this kid will have in the majors, he pitched 10 innings ....

He looked really good so far

Keep in mind Also, he was starting in the minors his first 6 years, he didn't get moved to the pen til last year..

He thriving at it , his fastball went from mid 90s to high 90s and even clocked 100 a couple times..

Sure Epstein got him for nothing (Sczcur) but sometimes you hit on those and so far he hasn't disappointed...

You're only going against him because he was picked up in a minor trade over being homegrown

If you are talking Almora vs Happ: Yes you are losing serious value. #3 is Trout at 14.0 The difference in Happ and Almora is greater. 14.7.

But talking about major league avg. That is 0. So you are not losing value when talking about the mean.

But when you have the best and sit him for above MLB avg D you lose value.
