As much of a pain it sounds getting A guy like Miller or his ilk makes plenty of sense.

55 made plenty of sense where we don't know if Nathin will be a factor at 41. It would make sense to try to deal here with the lesser cost player. The Cubs have been heavily scouting Miller and Chapman and I think they have to pay up here.

Even if it is Chapman and he demands to close. What is the worst case? Rondon in the 8th and Wood, Edwards and Strop the guys getting you there. If Nathin amounts to anything it just adds. Cahill just used in MR.

You could do worse.

The cost would be worth it. The future is on the team now.

That my thinking too...
when I read posters say they can't mortgage/give up on the future, who are they talking about that in the system?

Contreras
Rizzo
Baez
Russell
Bryant
Schwarber
Soler
Heyward

Are all 26 and under

Besides maybe Almora and Happs, who from the minors is going to come up and take one of those guys spot in year or two ?

They have their biggest opportunity since ever to win it all this year, so if it takes a few of those prospects to get a player or two that will help strengthen their chances, they need to make the move...

Next year could end up like 85 or 04, the year after getting close when everyone thought theyd come back better but it never happened

Even Zobrist they have control over for 4 years. To be honest the future is now. Every year they are adding a player or 2.

I'm not worried about the next wave when this wave is this young. Of the prospect players they have the only 2 I would make off limits would be Eloy and Happ. Rest can be had

What ?
Who talking about the Yankees here ? Or What they want
What are you even no-ing about with my post ?

My post is directed towards posters who keep saying they don't want the cubs to trade away prospects from the minors cause they are supposed to be the future..

I'm asking who would they be replacing in a year or two from the list I provided of 8 players 26 and under

I mentioned only players that might have a chance to replace someone is maybe Almora and Happs..
CSF reminded me about Jiminez

So, I don't know where you got the Yankees or a trade scenario from what I posted.

Cautiously optimistic. Hendricks pitching lights out and Hammel coming back to form. I'll feel better if we can get quality starts out of the rest of the rotation. I also think having Szczur and LaStella back is huge. Then if Dexter comes back later this week, all the better.

I'm taking my son to the game in Milwaukee a week from today and have really good seats. Would love to see Dexter back and Lester pitching well again.

I'm not afraid of trading prospects but the deal has to be about value. The Red Sox just traded the 2nd or 3rd best pitching prospect, potential ace level, for an oft injured starter just experiencing success and already above his highest inning count/season. That's idiotic so if you're telling me your trading Jiminez or Torres for Miller I'm not with you. Trading top 5 organizational prospects for a reliever is not how you get to be a great organization. Yes I'd like to see a move for a LOOGY, maybe another lefty bat for the mix but to overpay a-la Boston? No thank you.

Probably because you've been talking up a Yankee trade for weeks. It's called guilt by association.

BTW, just read yesterday that the Yanks had second thoughts and have pulled Miller off the block.

I don't recall Epstein ever over paying with prospects for anyone, so I dont think he would do that now.

I think if he moves a top prospect like Torres, it going to be in a deal where it either involves an under 30 starter with control, or in a multi player deal..

He probably looking at adding between 2-4 players
Lefty reliever
Bench
LH LFer
Starter

Bench LFer could be same player....

So, my thinking is that he might be looking at a team or teams in a multi team deal, that he can bundle his prospects to make it look sexier and get back multiple players he needs/wants.

Soler can be a wild card in this too, he has that friendly contract and bus load of potential if a team willing to focus on that more then his injury bug.

At this point you'd have to think that any movement of Soler would have to be a massive under sell. Injuries, slow start, defensive problems....he's better than what he's shown and I seriously doubt Theo will under value him.

Guilt by association? Lmao
Then most everyone on here guilty

This is a message board where if posters are having a conversation about a subject like trades and rumors, its ok to join the conversation if you want and give your 2 cents.

That said, beside yesterday when I mentioned Beltran and Chapman.. I havent brought up any Yankee trade scenario in a while.

So, you could probably just let it go already it getting old..

Soler would definitely be a part of a package deal and I'm not saying as a throw in..

My point with him is that if a team willing to look at potential more than his injury bug, he could be that ready now player in a deal along with a prospect or two in a multi player trade...

Soler right now probably don't get back much in a one on one deal... He alone probably get them a rental and a minor leaguer now.

Nonsense. There is no market value for a OF that needs to be replaced in the 7th inning, hits below the league BA and is a 17 HR guy. You dont think other GMs see that?

Soler is not a player anyone will trade for he is a throw in to balance a trade

Well then he wouldn't play for your team ?

Come on , as much as you don't care for him
You know there always a handful of GMs that look at the potential of a young player over their current struggle.

Yeah, cause GMs are always thinking: what if I gave up a valuable player for a guy that is always hurt, needs defensive replacement after the 7th inning, has a below average BA and will hit 17 HRs. I can see it now

Soler is a toss in just like Vogeelbach is. Until Soler can prove he can play a full season he is a part time player due to is limits. Notice every time he gets full time playing he ends up on the DL.
