Sooooo.......
We will sell Schwarber at his lowest point, after they made it clear after 2015 he was not likely to be traded, when he was at a much higher sell point.
Theo will announce - with his team a couple games out of the lead of the worst division in the league - that we can't contend, and will trade Arrieta and Wade Davis?
We will turn to your hero, Jon Jay.
Listen closely: I have said this repeatedly, but you won't listen. Jon jay will hit a shallow .277 over the season, play terrible D, provide little to no run production, and the team will lose when he plays. There is NO reason whatsoever to give Jon Jay playing time at the expense of Almora or Happ. Personally, I'd like to see a LOT more of Almora, and have a really good defensive OF out there. But the bats are forcing moves - in the wrong direction - to guys who provide offense at the expense of better D.
Play Russell and Baez and Almora on D and see what happens.
Biggest strength is versatility. But one weakness is Joe doesn't play any youngster 3 games in a row.
If you would read vs project, what I posted is the next 30 days will dictated what Theo does. How is that shocking. Teams that are out of it sell. Period
Theo has done this in a he past so he is not above it.
So getting to Schwarber. I never said sell Schwarber. So where that came from? I left that question open because I really do not know the answer. He has 1 good day then he shuts down for a week. He is hitting under .200 for the most of the season. At some point he has to hit or they need to get another option. Staying the course when the boat is sinking is not a winning strategy.
On Jay: he is hitting near .300. So I'm feeling ex-Card hate here. What I'm seeing is he has been a lead off. The Cubs need a spark plug.
What is happening? Happ and Schwarber struggling at it. Happ .210 now. Zo wist injury still playing vs in rehab getting his wrist healthy.
Long term getting Happ AB's right now pays off in the long term. Playing Jay helps right now but delays development. That is the same thing as Schwarber losing last year. He got nothing out of it and he is struggling.
My point is the next 30 days if they are buyers or sellers. Playing struggling players over producing players stacks the deck towards sell mode. If that is the goal I'm actually ok with it. I would rather know that the goal is to play for 2018 and use Jake as a way to help that situation. If they can extend Wade then make it happen. If he wants to hit the market then sell.
Now if for some reason things start to click with ithese guys then go for it. But I'm not going to sit here and say that they are going to amount to anything as is. They are losing against quality teams and can even tank against teams that they should be slapping around.
So a sense of direction would be nice. Right now the compass is spinning.
