I kept suggesting the guy be used for specific tools, vs. as a regular. (I realize injuries are why he is starting.) But this guy just isn't going to cut it.

Even when he does something positive, he then showboats. I have no use for this guy going forward.

Lake is not in the long term plans. They should be using Denorfia over him.

Like I said the biggest problem right now is Wada. Pulled in the 4th. Getting Turner up on the team will be the biggest boost.

We all know Turner had not proven anything yet since coming to the Cubs, but his injury still seems big. I look forward to seeing what he can do. And, yes, I think we can expect more than 4-5 IP each outing. Maybe not the first couple starts (well, still better be more than 4), but going forward he should be able to pitch more innings than Wada. Who wouldn't?

Wada (until tonight) has actually looked good - but starting just isn't his thing.

His BAA was .208 first time through. 3rd time went near .370. So teams did not know him vs him being good. He is able to hide the ball well but stuff wise it is nothing spectacular.

And after tonights performance, I am even more in on Scott Kazmir. :smug2:

I go out on a limb. I think Turner is going to be a very good starter in this league.

Lake is still raw. He has never refined his incredible tools. He really has 5 plus tools. But, he is a good once second, really bad next second type of guy. Little bit of history, coming through the minors he was the SS and Castro was the second baseman. Baseball is a funny game.

I have been holding out hope that he can be. Would be nice to see him be a stesl like Arietta. Time to see.

I think so too. You look at his peripheral numbers with Miami and there were indications of a very good pitcher. The drop in velo was really the difference from his performance in the Detroit system. If he's regained some of that by changing his arm slot it could be huge.

Lake does not possess good OBP skills which is troublesome. I kinda wish he had stayed in AAA and tore it up so the Cubs could have used him in a package to get something of pressing need, and let him be someone else's experiment.

He was starting to take walks and lowering his SO's. I blame the old admin with his and Castro poor skills. Those 2 should have had that drilled into them in the Dominican league back when they first signed vs adapting this late in the game.

This is a reason why Almora is concerning right now. Should trade him IMO. sell his D. Yes he has Coco top end ability but he lacks in BB% which limits his OBA.
