I didn't say Chapman changes outcome..

Point was cubs had ace on mound, he gave up 4 to this suck ass team...
They had a guy who struggled all year with over 4 ERA got 2 off him late and got to the pen in 9th..
In between left scoring chances on base

Why he didn't use Strop and rondon probably cause they were used yesterday and twice in series, who knows
Maybe same reason he PR for Rizzo, cause he wanted too

Strop yesterday pitched a quick 1 2 3 should have gone with him

The cubs scored 2 in the 9th and the Sox had no business winning this game? That's some odd logic. Also, I fail to see how Chapman changes this out come. If you're not going to use Strop or Rondon there why on earth would you use Chapman?

No kidding! Someone stop the presses. The Cubs have fallen out of contention at 20 games over .500.

They were fortunate to even have a chance to get back in the game. Furthermore, can we stop with the Heyward bashing or blasting every running play or why Maddon did this or that? Heyward is just one part of this team and a reason why this team is where they are.

I believe people were calling for Lester's head last year with his contract. This year, he has settled in more comfortably. I expect nothing less from Heyward and at least I get stellar defense in the mean time. It ain't your money folks.

If Heyward gets hot down the stretch or in the playoffs, I bet all will be forgotten. :yep:

Yes, because we know Strop is lights out all of the time. I saw Strop blow 3 games to the Cardinals alone last year.

It's a game. Ebbs and flows happen. Relax people.

Like I said who knows why maddon went with Montgomery there, maybe he liked the matchup..

I'm just pissed cause I hate the Sox more then the cardinals and I work with some annoying Sox fans who are worse then packer fans when they win against cubs/bears

I'll get over it.. Tommorow another game

Peace

Of course maybe we would have lost this game with Strop or even Rivera but i'd take my chances with Strop over Montgomery at the moment. I'm more worried about Arrieta though, he pitched well with the Mets but that is the only game he pitched well lately

True! However, I trust the Cubs management that they have brought in the right guys. They haven't missed on much at all.

You must feel a little differently than I do towards Strop. He makes me as nervous as Mitch Williams did every time he gets the ball.

Something's gotta give with Heyward. I was on the wagon of "Heyward has always been a slow starter, he'll pick it up in June and July". Well June and July have come and gone and he's still hitting .225

Think it's more a case of when not if. Don't really see a logical reason that a 26 year old would just entirely fall off. Maybe it's tomorrow things click. Maybe it's during the playoffs. Maybe next year. Regardless, the cubs he still provides elite defense in the meanwhile and despite the hand wringing among cubs fans they are still the best record in baseball. If he gets going the offense could really take off.

I'm a bit worried though, i have very little confidence at the moment in Arrieta, Lackey and Hammel

Personally, I'd add Lester to the Try Not To Suck watch list as well. 1 win in last 6 starts. 3 out of last 4 were just aweful outings.

This is where I am with Heyward as well. I have confidence that he'll get back based on the guy's noted work ethic, physical gifts and the fact that guy generally don't fall to this kind of attrition at 26. I really feel the combination of trying to fix his swing with Mallee and the wrist injury really messed up the start of the year and because his swing is not right to begin with has made this year a bust offensively. He may show flashes in the next few months or it may be next year but this is not who this guy is. Of course he's not what some think he should be either, he's somewhere in between.

Guys, Miguel Gonzalez is not that bad of a pitcher. Two really bad starts (7 er and 8 er) inflates his era a ton otherwise he's at a 3.08 ERA on the season.

He pitched a very good game. From a Cubs perspective it was unfortunate they couldn't get to him early as he didn't have good stuff to start the game but he settled in and worked the plate well. Lots of movement and Cubs hitters were stymied.

Appreciate the recap. With working two jobs and so many day games on the days I am actually off at night I've not had the opportunity to watch much. That said, I did catch the top of the 9th. I turned the TV off for bed before the top of the ninth finished. d'oh

Once again we get dominated by a mediocre pitcher who suddenly looks like Cy Young against us. The theme of the past 2 months has been wasted opportunities upon wasted opportunities. We should have scored 6 runs last night.

We need to win today. Losing 2 straight games to a POS crap team would really tick me off. Our inability to hit with RISP will haunt us in October. If we don't fix it, there is a good chance we get swept in the first round.

There is a reason why the Cubs are the worst team in baseball for leaving runners and it gets more painful by the day. There wouldn't be such a big stink over their pitching...trades, call ups or what not, if they were a bit more consistent in the run scoring dept. Sure, when they do score its comes in bunches but it just doesn't happen enough. They could definitely use a nip and a tuck at their situational hitting. A few hit and runs called by the manager wouldn't hurt either.

Without looking up stats, mainly because I cant now

Im going to guess these guys in the lineup are the biggest reason why they have trouble scoring with RISP/men on base the last month or so.

Zobrist
Heyward
Montero/Ross
Russell ( though he has had a couple big hits)

Those guys seem to come up a lot with runners on and well we know how the results end up most of time
