At this point we have to bat Heyward 8th or 9th. He's devastating to us. I realize he's a gold glove caliber defender - but so what? He's killing us.

We acquired Chapman, which is good. But every single night it's stranding runs over and over.

I see glaring holes that will be tough to over come in October.

Why they need and probably will get another LH bat...

Someone to basically pick up Heyward slack

I do recall saying this back in early June..
That they will eventually need a LH bat for LF to fill the lost of Schwarber.. Yep

Starting to see how this series going to go...

They can't do anything with Shields
They face some guy with a 17 ERA tomorrow with Hammel on mound so, they either win one or lose a highscoring game..
Then Sale on Thursday well well rested and pissed off, so he probably shuts them out..

I hate the fukn sox

Pretty sad to have ZERO confidence on a guy to not just get a hit but reach base...

Seems like every time he does get a hit it with 2 outs and nothing comes of it..

This is becoming a glaring issue:

Fowler: .282/.401/.489
Bryant: .279/.368/.516
Russell: .265/.345/.422
Zobrist: .263/.379/.440
Contreras: .263/.372/.475
Baez: .259/.280/.418
Heyward: .229/.316/.309
Montero: .212/.338/.371
Ross: .178/.259/.301

VS LH:
Baez: .370/.446/.603
Contreras: .324/.375/.486
Ross: .316/.481/.658
Fowler: .312/.391/.494
Bryant: .301/.403/.628
Zobrist: .290/.388/.440
LaStella: .273/.385/.364
Szczur: .273/.304/.523
Rizzo: .233/.352/.492
Heyward: .226/.317/.330
Russell: .202/.318/.383
Montero: .160/.250/.160

Games like this are why I was leery about the Chapman move. Far too often the bats just don't show up. Maybe that's baseball but Hendricks threw a pretty good game and is on the hook for the loss because the offense couldn't get to James Shields of all people.

Unbelievable. James Shield's and his 5.00 ERA is destroying us. Hendricks did his job - 2 runs in 6 innings. Our offense sucks yet again.

What I'm trying to figure out is Szczur 63 AB vs RH 44 vs LH and is hitting better vs RH pitching. Power wise he is better vs lefties. Suggests full time player.

LaStella too small of a sample to suggest much as a full time.

So why is Szczur not starting again? Wow makes you wonder sometimes.

That was one of the problems. Seeing the splits where 5 players are hitting over .300 vs LH and 2 (1 not even a full time player) suggest a line up weakness going on. If anything it leads to the conclusion that they should trade for Reddick and try to involve Szczur more than Heyward at this point.

Wood walked Schmuck. Schmuck has a .260 OBP.

Wow.

  2. Orlando Magic
  3. Phoenix Suns
  4. Sacramento Kings
  1. Columbus Blue Jackets
Face it boys this is not a good team. Cardinals may catch them. Probably limp into the playoffs with a first round exit.

Is Maddon smoking crack? Why is Wood still pitching?

That the thing...
Maddon wont sit Heyward and his 20 mil salary...
Hed be one expensive bench player.
That would be like when they put Big Z and his salary in the bullpen

Only way Szczur gets regular playing time now is to bench Heyward

I hope the Cubs just take the shutout instead of scoring 2 runs or something and still falling short.

Not really.

If you consider 2 games more important than 100+, maybe. But smart people don't.
