Whats weird about the offense is they arent bad at all. Zobrist will be a big help to extend it. They have sucked against left handed pitching which is super odd considering they have been very good against lefties during the incarnation of this team. Eventually, it has to turn. I mean they have been dreadful against lefties this year and that has never been the case.

Like last year?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
I was in Busch Stadium tonight. What an energy suck fest. Goldschmidt hit a tater for a 5-3 lead about the time the Brewers tied it up. Springer was inches away from robbing Goldie. Then they showed the hit on the big screen that put Milwaukee ahead. Astros let the game get away.

Strop has had bad stretches before and has bounced back. Edwards not so much. I like Edwards but his is all mental. Im worried Strops is physical. Joe was trying to avoid Strop, but he went with him in high leverage. He was backed into a corner. He couldnt let Kintzler go longer.
Honestly I get it, but I really feel like he either needs to be on the DL healing if something is wrong or figuring it out as a mop up guy right now. I know it sounds stupid to say Wick or something at that point, but he has good stuff and is an unknown really at this point. Strop for now is a known

Goldschmidts home run looked like a pop up. I hate the cardinals

7 games over .500? I don't know. Let's be honest about this team. We are 2/3rds of the way through the season and NOTHING has changed. What are we waiting for? I don't buy the "we'll be fine" bullshit anymore. Not after last year. They kept saying.."we'll be fine" ALL last year..and guess what? We weren't. Why is this year different? Worse record than last year at this time...same problems....why will we "be fine"? I hate homer BS like that.
What has changed?
Last year we had healthy Bryant for 1/3 season. This year he is performing like MVP season. .
He was trying to avoid Strop. Kintzler walking a batter then got screwed on strike three to hit Thames changed everything. I dont mind the Hendricks pull because like I said the third hasnt always been kind to Hendricks.

We have a LOOGY. He goes against Gamel. I dont think Brewers didnt have much left on the bench.

People can disagree and thats fine, but in the end, the bullpen as a whole is not performing. You cant just not pitch them and hope for the best. They have to get through it.
I agree that the pen has to get through it.

I don’t blame the manager for players not performing in a particular game as one could reasonably expect them to perform.

The entire issue tonight was removing a guy with a two hit shutout knowing you will need a minimum of four innings from the pen in a 2 run game.

Then, as many managers do, he removes a reliever who retired the only two men he faced to bring in a different guy, who immediately struggles.

Essentially, by determining to change out a pitcher even when perfect, the manager creates a situation where every guy needs to be perfect, which is unreasonable.

Anybody that still says "we'll be fine" or that fans are "overreacting"now...after what happened last season? Is just being a pathetic homer and need to go to some north side bar and get drunk with their Sandberg jersey on and just mumble "Cubs...Cubs....Cubs" over and over like the hopeless drunks they are. This team IS NOT fine. For gawds sake. Wake up. Never mind, I know that's too much too ask. Just keep drinking and mumbling your homer.........delusional nonsense.

There's 60 games left......peaking a bit too early.
They were handed two games by cincy. Pitt series could have easily been 2-2. Waino sucked.
They are not going to continue getting heroic performances from matt Wieters regularly.

Iam pissed about tonight’s decision making, and am very critical, and even while doing that I can see many are overreacting.

I am upset we lost tonight, but you extrapolate each loss into ten.

Holy ****.
Seriously?????

He is OK to pitch five innings, but not SIX?

That’s a load of crap.

And this was Hendricks fourth start (or was it more?) since being on DL.

C’mon. I am not asking for 125 pitches the first game back. Don’t be ridiculous!

He was at 90 pitches. 55 were for strikes. He was getting squeezed today by that shitty ump. Do you really think that he would have gotten 6 in under 110? No

Anyways this game was blown by pushing Ryan out in the 6th. He should have just gone with Cishek out of the box and saved him for situational 7-8 in a string of lefties.

Regardless getting Holland should free up Ryan to be utilized more again and Derrek used vs a hard lefty.
