In 36 innings with the cubs Hamels has dropped his season ERA from 4.72 to 3.76.

Those Brewers aren't going away, DOOM DOOM for the Cubs.

What now... AHH UM...well? Still a month to go but he's covered aboot erything that will go wrong but really just absolute BULLSHIT.

Rizzo being Rizzo in August, Bryant and others coming back... Hammels? where'd he come from? Hendricks sucks he'll never be good again.

I'll hold off on the "Laughing my Fucking ass off" for now.

We'll see if those 114 pitches his last start has any affect on him tonight...

Not a lot of impact, regardless of the pitch count. It's a super-humid night and the breaking balls aren't acting right for either pitcher. Add to that an ump who has a really bizarre zone, and we're seeing seeing him go deeper into counts than he otherwise might.

DeGrom may look like God out there, but he has less than his normal movement. It's still coming in at 98, but it's coming in pretty straight. So, neither guy has his absolute best stuff tonight.

That said, deGrom looks like he's going to go deeper into the game than Hamels. We may have to depend on our bullpen to keep us close until we can get to the Mets' 'pen.

Curious as to how you came to the conclusion that it not having much impact on him tonight

Except for the breaking balls, which aren't working well for either guy, Hamels' velo is right up where it's been since we got him, and he's not showing a noticeable lack of command, at least to my eye.

That's how I came to the conclusion -- I figure that if a high pitch count would affect him, it would primarily be in velo and secondarily in command. Not really seeing anything obvious in either area. But, again, I qualify that conclusion by noting environmental and other variable factors.

May never see the Mets pen, he's on pace to go 9.....maybe he gets a cramp? LOL, desperation.

Also, when we get around to the second and third times through the order, the batters start getting used to seeing the velocity and start getting a feel for how the ball is breaking. I recall finally breaking through against Strasberg late in last year's NLDS when it looked like he had been throwing wood-repelling baseballs... ;)

Ok......

I see a guy laboring a bit but is able to get that out pitch ..
4 IP 69 pitches 27 balls 2 walks but has that K pitch working with 6 Ks

Im not saying those 114 pitches are having an affect cause only he knows right now, but he not as sharp as he been since he arrived..

Could just be the game itself or those 9 innings 114 pitches are having a slight affect..

Anyhows , need to figure out how to get a run off DeGrom and hopefully Hamels can keep it going and find a groove...

The only acquisition worse than this guy is Chatwood....he's just taking up a bullpen seat.

I don't know about the science of humidity affecting a baseball but the dewpoint right now is about as high as it ever gets, just crazy humidity levels right now.

This would make for a good discussion during the off-season. Worst FA signings by Epstein. Hendry's was Bradley.

Seems like the clutch hits mostly come from the same guys.....Caratini isn't one of them.

He's fucking garbage. Still can't believe Epstein couldn't find a vet catcher on the waiver wire that at least has defensive skills. Caratini is a weak hitting C that doesn't bring much behind the plate as well.

Heh, as of this moment....his only redeeming value is that apparently Hamels likes his catching.

Do they pick this game up where it left off tomorrow before the regular scheduled game?
Armageddon is about to roll in to Wrigley for the rest of the evening.
