The offense had a off day, though Cubbies caught some bad breaks on some hard hits, just not in the right area. Whatever they have been playing good lately, six wins in a row before today I can handle them losing one after winning six. Off to San Diego, lets start another winning streak!

Okay, meatball......

Cubs blew this game. Cubs were flat all around and the bullpen didn't help.
They won 6 games in a row. They thought it would be too greedy if they won 7.

I remember it. I thought the year was off quite a bit.

Everybody has it wrong...at least that's what I remember. Schmidt hitting 4 homers came in another game a few years earlier. The story on the 23-22 game was the fact that Dave Kingman hit 3 HRs and drove in like 6, I think Bill Buckner had a slam and drove in 7 and the Cubs still lost. I know both the Schmidt 4 HR game and the 23-22 game were in the 70s and were both losses by the Cubs but Im fairly certain they were different games.

I typed that yesterday, and afterward thought I had that wrong. I remember the Mike Schmidt 4 HR's, because they were his last 4 AB's, and we watched the next day to see if he hit 5 straight, which had never been done.

My brother attended the 23-22 game, and that was, indeed, different. My bad.

Now, who also remembers the 22-0 game? Pittsburgh over the Cubs. I believe that was the Rennie Stennett 7 for 7 performance. And I won't look it up - I am testing my now failing memory. :)

I watched that game on WGN as a kid. Interesting to see the box on that one. Cubs pitching really sucked back then.

In a week where I expected this team to go 2-5 to teams I thought were better going in (not sure I feels the same now) I'm not going to get upset over a single loss.

Understandable. I just don’t like getting shut out. Only the 2nd time this year so it’s not so bad. I stay stupid stuff when I’m agitated but I definitely didn’t lament over the loss. Over it quickly. I’m thrilled with the 6-1 home stand. I figured we were looking at 4-3 at best to be honest.

Okay? Not sure why you feel the need to single me out when there were multiple posts about the location of the strike zone all day but to each their own.

Strike zone had nothing to do with the loss.......bad bullpen and not knocking in RISP did them in. They're still young and learning. Losses like this happen. But 2 of 3 from a decent division rival is nothing to scoff at.

I call out fans for failure to be objective.

Feel free to ask around though--SilenceS, Parade, even that dipshit Jim Johnson can tell you--I've gone after many others. Its not targeting either, at least to me its not.

Bring something solid besides being a meatball to the table and we'll get some great conversations going. Bring this mickey mouse shit and I'll talk down to you like you're a meatball.

Whether or not it contributed to the loss is sort of beside the point.

That was Soler's second at bat yesterday. 3 of those 4 pitches were called strikes. If this was the first time it had happened then fine chalk it up to a generous ump. However, Maddon got kicked out of one of the Cardinals games for this very same sort of thing against Soler. Ultimately, the problem this causes is Soler can't do anything with those pitches even if he swings. If umps are going to expand the zone on Soler like this continually he's going to have a hard time hitting.

Couple things......

First of all; We weren’t having a conversation. I was merely making a statement about my displeasure with the strike zone, which I’m more than permitted to do so I thank you kindly not to dictate what I post. You somehow equated that with me saying the Cubs lost because of the strike zone when I didn’t.

Secondly, I’m not sure why you have deemed yourself the arbiter of this board but if you don’t like a particular post you’re welcome to ignore it but I’m going to continue to post how I post and it won’t change so I guess we won’t be having many conversations.

I’ll leave you with this: You apparently had a problem with me right off the bat as one of my first posts on this board in the prospects thread was not to your liking either. Here is one of my favorite quotes, “if you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you might be the asshole”. Have a good night and Go Cubs.

Perhaps a stupid question. Those dots represent the center of the baseball right? If that is the case than those three pitches are strikes as the diameter of the ball touches the black of the plate.

They weren't strikes even when showing on the pitch tracker during the game.
