First Cubs complete game of the year. Jenkins used to get 17 a year by himself. Pussies

A Complete Game... wow

He gave the bullpen exactly what it needed, a day off

Right now Cole Hamels a trade deadline steal for the Cubs

Also find it interesting Maddon has paired him up with Caratini...

I wouldn't say pussies....more like brainwashed by pitch counts and the #100.

Reds leadoff batter of game scored, and Cole allowed nothing more. Sweet.

Hamels has always been that good. Guy is a big game pitcher and playing meaningless games deflated his value. He is basically Arretta.

I think right now you'd have to make him the #1 if the Cubs do get into the playoffs. I'd go Hamels, Lester, Hendricks.

I have been watching the Cubs for 55 years and have never seen a HR hit to that spot out of the park. Willie Mays used to hit a lot of HRs on that same path but his best were only 20 rows up and we were amazed at the time

Sosa hit one just off the very top of the fence in an even deeper part of the stadium.

And this was the on decline of his career non steroid version of Sosa. In 1998-2000, he was hitting 530 foot home runs.

He had been bad though for a year and a half. The change had been subpar and he had started giving up more HR. Knowing he was a pitcher available at the deadline I watched part of his last two starts with Texas and there was absolutely nothing that indicated that this guy was lurking in there somewhere. Glad for the resurgence but there was nothing predictable about it.

Same thing happened to Verlander. Some guys feed off of the play offs and it brings out a whole another level of competition.

Dont forget they pushed the wall of the stadium back into the street in that area and its even farther now to hit it out of the park

Verlander wasn't that bad though, and he was coming off a year where he should have won a Cy Young. I get what you're saying though.
