Quite honestly the state board should sue against the law that was made in regards to keeping the name and logo, because constitutionally it goes against the rghts that the State Board of Higher Education has. The State Board has full control over what goes on at the state schools ie nicknames and logos, if they say to get rid of it we have to.

That said the didn't do anything about it when the law was originaly passed last year, but now when they see the people's support for it through re-instating it through the petitions and another petition that would put it the name in the constitution and take away some of the board's power then all of a sudden their interested.

The article did a good job summing up what has happened over the last couple of months with regard to retiring and un-retiring the name. However the womens team has not worn the jerseys with the Sioux logo at all since they were retired on January 1st. They won't wear them in the NCAA tournament and they will play Minnesota this weekend and it will be a close game between two good teams. The men's team will finish their conference tournament over the next two weeks wearing Sioux jerseys. However when/if they play their first NCAA tournament game this year they will be wearing jerseys without the name and logo. The athletic department isn't going to knowingly violate the NCAA policy and force student athletes, who have worked their asses off this year, to forfeit the most important games they'll play this year, and miss out on the money they make from playing in those games.
