I've been a Forte fan but he stinks in between tackles

Seems I touched a nerve.

Kinda annoying to be judged as a hater when you criticize a player, isn't it?

Very nice......

Mick, how do you feel Forte's performed this season, compared to your expectations?

Slightly below. After coming off 4.5 then 4.9 ypc carry seasons I had hoped he could be up in the high 4's again. I would say significantly below, but I agree with the posters who have said that his ankle is definitely not 100%. It's pretty clear watching him that he isn't making the sharp cuts that are his "forte".

I don't know if we'll get to see him at his best this year, but I can only hope.

Foster also has 13 TD's while Forte has 3.

Judging Forte on scoring touchdowns would be like getting a QB who is only allowed to hand off in the red zone, never pass, and judging him on his lack of TD passes.

Forte has shown his quality as an overall versatile feature back. If you people want to hate on a one-cut RB for having an average season on a bad ankle then go ahead. Even though he isn't lighting it up, he's far from the biggest problem on this tragically under-performing offense.

So what are we allowed to judge Forte by? Only YPC?

You can judge him by any means you like. YPC, , receiving, overall production. You can judge him on TDs as well if you like, but if you're expecting a RB who comes off the field near the goal line to be scoring a lot of TDs then you're pissing into the wind. Though he hasn't done anything outstanding in the last few games, he's a proven play maker and widely regarded as one of the league's best.

If he returns to form and has big games in wins against GB or in the post season, the board will be bursting at the seems with "Forte is a Top 3 back" threads, like it was about 12 months ago on CBMB.

Fickle are the fans.

I actually disagree with the premise of the thread, i think Forte is a little better at sliding through a small hole for 3-4 yards then bush, the problem is when there is 0 hole. The one thing i credit Martz for is that when he did call a balanced run pass game (rare i know) at least his run pass balance was unpredictable.

It seems like know when we try to establish the run its always predictable run on first down, pass if get stuffed or run again on 2nd if got some yards. Too predictable.

It's pretty obvious to me that he's been limited by the ankle. However, there is no denying that he's been a disappointment so far.

If the Bears are to make a push in the playoffs, we'll need Forte and his abilities.

I loved that TD play last weekend and I'm hoping to see sone more of that!

Ive been saying this for years (not weeks).............Forte is overrated, he needs canyons to run through

a great back makes the first man miss more often than not, forte goes down in a heap from a blade of grass, he has bad feet.....hes a 3rd down back, bush isnt the answer either

yeah forte produced the first few years, because he got the ball a ton, there was nothing that said game changer, you think d -coordinators are up at night thinking how theyre going to stop forte, lol......he goes down over and over by arm tackles ( dlineman that are falling that get a hand on his knee bring him down)

I wish his feet were as good as his hands, then we might be onto something.....im tired of watching him stop legs as soon as hes hit, hes a big softie for someone of his size....his finese attributes are more fitted to be 3rd down back, screens, etc....

doug martin, bryce brown, alfred morris would be upgrades over him, i see why (loyalty) we offered him that contract, but i dont know why

Its very sad when our qb breaks more tackles than Forte. Whats the oline have to do with breaking a fucking arm tackle? Forte is a 3rd down back

Yeah that TD play was great, as he was lined up as a WR, not a RB. We all know this line completely sucks balls for all the skill position players. However, you need to be realistic about Forte and his abilities as a whole. Forte is an excellent receiver, a solid runner in open space, struggles seeing holes and hitting them the brief time they are open. When holes aren't open he doesn't lower his shoulders and push for a couple of yards or move out of the congestion, he stalls.

This was clear last night watching the running backs on the redskins and Giants. Against Seattle I remember one play specifically where a hole opened up briefly and Forte missed it because he didn't hit it running hard. He ran into our olinemen and could have easily run to open field to the left or right of it. Instead he just ran into the oline and lost a yard or two.

He was lined up as WO on the left. Yes, they should use him more as a WR I have been saying that for a LOOOOOOONG time.

I thought he was motioned, but it's possible he wasn't. My daughter was running crazy on Sunday and I did miss a few plays, so you might be correct.

Matt's forte has never been inside running, but he looked 50% to me on Sunday. He's usually good for one cut - that one play in the first half he had the whole right side open if he would have just cut back. He usually makes that play. As limited as we are by protection, the backfield isn't being used well at all. Forte as a receiver is something Tice has taken out of the playbook it seems. Not very bright, our offense is in the painting by numbers category.

Watching Lynch and Peterson today makes me realize how much of bad runner Forte is between tackles. Lunch is cutting back every play and looks awesome. Forte just runs straight like a dope. God dam
It!
Forte is a glorified Reggie Bush, the sooner the Bears accept this the sooner they will know how to apply his skill set. He is not an AP or Lynch type of runner nor does he have the power to sustain that kind of strength. AP pushes the pile when he's in traffic, Forte has the pile push him, like on the TD he had against the Titans a month ago.
