Monangai has nothing to worry about, Poles will hold on to his draft picks by all means if he can. They extended Homer after Ben Johnson got here, if he wasn't wanted they wouldn't have brought him back. Any RB they bring in off the scrap heap at the last minute won't have any more likelihood of getting play time than the guys currently here so although there is a slight chance Roschon, Homer, or Wheeler don't make it, unless Swift gets hurt, whoever they bring in won't make much of difference.

Is reading hard for you?

He’s a special teams player. Of course they wanted him back…. to play special teams.

There are a set amount of roster spots per position and "special teams player" isn't of them. There will be 4-5 RBs on the roster, so do the math.

if Chubb can walk, then he’s a better goal line option than RoJo or Kramer. Just saying…

They literally have a WR who only has done punt/kick returns lately and is useless in the pass game....

Are you thinking they keep fewer WR and more RB?

No i think the 4th rb and 5th/6th WR will have to be exceptional ST players and its why they will be on the roster...just like every team

They will likely keep 4 RB's - Swift, Rookie, Roschon, Homer

Agreed, which is why I doubt they bring in a veteran RB to replace Wheeler or Rojo. Homer makes it based on ST.

They are drafting new players that will be on special teams. People are expendable. They may keep Homer to play special teams, but he is dog shit as a running back. If they can replace his special team ability and get a better RB, they could move him.

At this point I would not call Homer a must keep piece. If Monangai can replace homer at the bottom of the roster and can play special teams you can move from him and get a better backup running back. Ian Wheeler can spend a year on the practice squad.

Except chubb was walking and he was terrible last year before getting injured again.

I understand roschon doesn't provide much and is a walking concussion but he converted a really high % of short yardage attempts last year, so I don't understand the above comment.

I'd also take a chance on monangai before chubb in short yardage. Other backs who'd be better for that include gus edwards and Jamal Williams.

People are remembering who chubb was. That player doesn't exist anymore

So I think Poles has had five 7th round picks prior to this year and only one (Hicks) is on the team.

I just say that as a reminder to everyone writing Monangai into their lineups for next year.

He's a 4th or 5th round RB in a normal draft

Pacheco was also a 7th round rb from rutgers and leads that KC backfield. I see him as taking the power back role from roschon.

I get all that. I also know the odds aren’t in his favor. People are acting like he’s some roster lock and it’s f’n hilarious.

He MIGHT be good. I like the pick. But it’s still a 7th round pick. And I would bet money on a vet being added at some point before September

Monangai will be in the rb rotation.

7th round picks aren't all equal. Taking a s, cb, ol etc in the 7th round is generally a crap shoot hoping for a ST player by looking at traits.

Taking an rb in 7 in this class was different as there was still a half dozen rbs that were rosterable players. Monangais traits don't really scream STer either

You’re too smart a poster to say this.

He might be. He has a good shot as the roster is currently constructed.

Saying with any assurance in April that a 7th round pick will make the roster though is still laughable.

Positional value is really, really important in the draft. You are probably 10x as likely to get a serviceable RB in the 6th or 7th round as you are to get a serviceable EDGE in the 6th or 7th round. You are also way more likely to get a good/great EDGE, OT, CB, QB in the first two rounds than anywhere else in the draft. Most good drafting teams pick guys who are liked by the consensus (more data points is better, that is pretty much the basic of predictive analytics afaik), but they also take premium positions in the first round most of the time.

Homer has 4.48 speed. Too bad there's no use for him on offense.

But i watched his highlight reel on youtube and he's just like Ashton Jeanty.
