I think injury couldve come into play too.

Where Sedin was concussed...and missed lots of time, where as if the conversation with the Hawks Dr's..the NHL was told he didn't have a concussion, they kept him out for precautionary measures...and if he's passing all the tests/plays friday...a 1gm and the fine for a 1st time offender

Kubina got 3 games...and he deliberately targeted Bollands head...and I just don't think Hansen intentionally targeted it as much as he was reckless/careless

I don't know, looked pretty intentional to me. Either way it doesn't matter.

I also agree with the injury playing into it, if Hossa was out Hansen probably would have had a few more tacked on. If Hossa is good to go on Friday, I'll take it.

I dunno if I agree with the injury determining the length of a suspension. Whether Hossa is back on the ice Friday or not, that was an incredibly dangerous play. If it wasn't intentional, it was at the least a stupid move on Hansens part. Just as a player is responsible for his stick at all time, a player should be responsible for his elbow or forearm(shiver).

maybe the Canucks are worse with Hansen in the line up thus the one game penalty is actually a one game reward for the Canucks and the remaining games Hansen plays is the punishment?

Gotta see things in a different light sometimes where they make more sense.

Marian Hossa on the cheap shot from Jannik Hansen: "He surprised me with a punch from behind. I was shaky for a few minutes right after, that's why i didn't return. Hossa on Hansen's suspension: "At least it's something, cause we don't want to see guys hitting other guys in the head, especially from behind.

Sounds like Hossa will play tomorrow. And it sounds like it's time to focus on San Jose and forget about Hansen and the Canucks until April. Nothing anyone can do about it now. Get them back in April. Until then get focused on San Jose which I am sure the Hawks are doing.

I personally think it has to factor in somewhat--maybe not in the bulk of the punishment but it should be part of it. Case in point: If you're driving drunk and get stopped and charged with a DUI for blowing over the limit, yes, you should face a stiff penalty for doing something stupid. Now, if you are driving drunk, even less drunk than in case A but dronk nonetheless, and end up lowing into someone ans severely hurting, or killing them, your punishment should be more severe.

The act itself should be the bulk of the punishment, but stuff like being a repeat offender and the consequences of your action need to be qualifiers.

There are some things to talk about with reagards to San Jose seeing the last game had some flare to it also.

STOP trying to scapegoat the goat (and bringing up disturbing beastiality skullfucking imagery)! You suck.

Does anyone know if the length of the season has anything to do with the amount of games... ie if it would have been a full season maybe they'd have given him more? It seems unfair to do it that way, but if they are losing per game money as a result, isn't each game of suspension worth more because it's divided by 48 instead of 82? or does it not work like that?

No, they are not based on what I have read from the hockey journalists.

Good to know... but that makes this 1 game a little more baffling to me. I guess maybe not. Anyone have a list of suspensions. I'd like to know what other offenses were given one game and compare it to this hit. See if it adds up or they just got the dart board out from last year.

Keith's history (albeit tiny) nonetheless is there with the cooke incident plus was obviously way worse, so i dont mind the 1 game. I like it, wanted 2 games but i said to a regular at my bar last night (before finding out the ruling), said i want 2 games but i wouldnt be surprised by just a fine with how stupid the NHL is...

at least they didnt prove me TOTALLY wrong
