Just institute the "fair game rule" instead of suspensions. Next time the teams play eachother, nothing can be called if it involves the offending player.

Barbaric? Yes. Would it stop this shit completely? Yes. Will it ever happen? No, not a chance.

Force NHL teams to send repeat offenders to the KHL for the rest of the year, this shit would stop real quick.

Or then some players would go out with a bang and go Happy Gilmore on the opposition. I would before playing in Russia.

1 fucking game. Yep clear message there. That message is "It is open season on Hossa's dome"

Dear NHL,

You talk a great game about cleaning this shit up but when it comes to action you fall short, I mean you even lessened the suspension on Torres. You are a bunch of pussies.

Grim, players are taking offense and getting into fights over clean hits, never mind the dirty ones. This would make it a blood bath.

This really pretty much sums up my opinion. Shanahan talked big about cleaning up injuries to the head.

Since then? Reverting back to the days of old in the NHL where one never knows what to expect.

1gm is just legit...espcially since we don't know the extent of Hossa's injury - which I'm sure the NHL and the Hawks do

It was his first time offense (which usually just results in a fine)..so now he's on the repeat offender, if it happens again.

I wasn't expecting multiple games on what many (outside VAN) were even questioning if it was anything at all

1gm...forfeit 7K in salary...and now on the watch list, is fair

Crawford is out here, too. Don't see Emery, though. Karlsson is the second goaltender.

(Interesting, didn't realize Ray-Ray got a little banged up.)

Keith wasn't a repeat offender and he got 5 games off the bat for his elbow to Sedin's chops. Or am I wrong?

I was honestly expecting around 3 games. I guess I'm not surprised by the inconsistency of NHL discipline these days, just slightly disappointed that they couldn't get it right again.

Me too. I was expecting 3 but not 5 because Hansen's never technically been in trouble before. Then you watch Shanny's video where they explain everything with their camera vantage points and slo-mo, they concede there was malice which leads you to think Hawks fans were right, and then they roundly proceed to make themselves look like complete fucking incompetent morons ignoring their own findings and dole out 1-gm. suspension. {{shakes head}} This League, I swear.

Was he fined for his head shot on Cooke? I thought he was fined before...but never suspended. And I think his hit on Sedin was much worse/more deliberate

Hossa is right, and is this the time where we should wonder if we should rush Hossa to come back with all these positive signs?? I don't want to see that happen to him again, but it never hurts to have him out there as a way to rally the boys. Tough call.

I don't remember, could have been. I think Keith's elbow was worse because it was obviously pre-meditated, I don't agree that Hansen wasn't as deliberate about his elbow, it just didn't seem pre-meditated and he sold it off as "reactionary"... also to the back of the head which is technically a blindside hit to the head. Like I said, if Keith got 5, Hansen should have had 3.
