Bullshit. The offenses job is to protect the ball and score points, regardless of the score. Winning, losing, or tied, that job doesn't change.
Now, multiple turnovers and 3 and outs does put a ton of pressure on the defense. But that's a different conversation.

I'm saving this one for the dumbest post of the year thread..

Which team has a better chance of winning the game if their defense let up 40+, Seattle or Green Bay? Obviously it would be the packers. If the defense can't stop anyone it puts a big strain on the defense. The game plan goes out the window, and the other team stops playing the run as much and focuses on the pass. If you don't think it matters that the defense knows you're going to pass, then I think you have some researching to do.

We aren't talking about winning the game, we are talking about the quarterbacks performance.

Bad offense can affect the way the defense plays JUST LIKE bad defense can affect the way the offense plays.

So you don't think the defense allowing 40 points would cause a QB to press his lucj to try and win?

I can only assume you might be referring to the Packer game as an example?

Before the defense gave up (Packers got to ) 40, the Bears O had their chances. The game didn't start out 40 to zero.

In that game, Cutler sucked waaay before we went down 42 points.

In fact if you look at the drive chart, he put up more yards when they were down by 42. In other words he took advantage of garbage time.

And trust me, in the above, I am not excusing the D... I'm just addressing the point that he "pressed".

I disagree on that point.

He probably pressed in the 1st Packers game though. It is irrelevant though if he did or didn't. Whether you are bad because you pressed or bad because you were just bad, the result is still the same. At any rate, we were never going to win either Packers game, the Patriots game, or the Cowboys game the way the defense played.

I wasn't talking about Cutler. I was talking about in general. Cutler presses most of the time regardless of what the D does. The first post I quoted from zeek was talking about offense and defense, not Cutler in particular.

He probably did in the 2nd half when he started tossing INTs. But he looked really good in the 1st half. And for some crazy reason the Packers D could not stop our offense in that first game until Cutler started to press.

I prefer to calling it Cutler going rogue

I don't get all the Cutler hate. He hasn't lived up to expectations but how can you hate a player that gives it his all. Brutalized with sacks over the Lovie years and a bad coach with Trestman, and you don't hear him complain to the media, even after being called out by Kromer. He may have bad body language, but he doesn't take cheap shots at the team or other players.

If you want to blame somebody, blame Angelo for trading for him and Emery for giving him a huge contract.

Funny thing.. if we would have drafted Cutler in the 3rd round, his story may have been written very differently. Nobody here hates Kyle Orton, we appreciate what he did but he wasn't the guy. It is kind of similar with Grossman. But with Cutler, we traded for what we thought was a pro bowl quarterback and it didn't work out for us. Denver knew he played above his head and got a great deal him. But we should hate the geniuses who traded for him and re-signed him, and the coaches that supported that.. not the player himself.

The franchise put huge expectations on him and they are the ones to blame for him not living up to those expectations.
Cutler never had the heart to give it "his best." He's just a whining, coach killing, egotistical bitch who is a cancer for this team.

If Cutler truly gave it his all, he wouldn't constantly make shitty reads and throw off his back foot WHEN HE DOESN'T HAVE TO.

He makes rookie mistakes and he's going on 10 years.

People can talk all they want about Cutler trying hard but the bottom line is he is football-dumb. After 10 years of hand-holding, including the last four of the Bears completely designing the entire organization around him, the fact that he still can't succeed is proof positive that he is either lazy, dumb or both. So if someone is going to insist that he's "giving his all," they have to by the same token acknowledge his lack of football smarts and inability to learn a system he can succeed in.

This thread is just proof at how rare the job of 'Elite NFL QB' is. The reality is that we are seeing 4 of the best EVER playing now. When they all retire (relatively soon), there will be a huge void. Few of the young QBs excite me. As good as Luck is, he really needs to cut down on the turnovers if he wants to be in the conversation.

NFL QB is the most important position in sports and the reality is there are roughly 5 men on the planet who can play it at an elite level. Perhaps a dozen who can play it at an exceptional level.

Kinda crazy when you think about it.

You know I thought the same thing but that isn't the case. I went to several other official sport teams threads and looked to see how much they talk about their QB

Here is the Cowboys thread http://cowboyszone.com/forums/fan-zone.59/ (2 threads about Romo on the first page)

http://boards.dallascowboys.com/forum/10-dallas-cowboys-forum/

They have a Romo sub-forum with over 1k threads, Cutler sub-forum only has 172

You gave a buffalo bills forum, but the other forums a checked out Geno was not a hot topic

http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/4029857-rivers-vs-ryan-a-necessary-teaching/

These were all the threads about ryan being discussed in the past 7 days, ryan is a pretty active topic for the falcons

http://www.barkinghard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?10-The-Cleveland-Browns/page2

At this forum, the QB position is talked about a good amount, not as much as here but still a main topic of discussion

http://www.raiderstalk.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=11e0d4efc22412a3b70d2e16ff00cbc3

4 thread Titles on the first page with Carr's name in them, didn't drill into the threads about the offense to see what was discussed in there

Actually surprised Stafford isn't a bigger topic, but I guess with that team having such futility as a team they are just happy to make the playoffs

http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/182033-kaepernick-thread/

Seems like Kaep is a hot topic there. One thread 4300+ posts

Go through the first five pages, click on some threads to see if it becomes a QB war. It doesn't. Hell some of them don't even have an official thread for their QB like we do (which is useless now Scoot). It seems we talk more about our QB more than other teams and it aint because Cutler is the worst QB in the game.

As you can see, there are more than one forum out there for teams, just because one forum isn't discussing the QB doesn't mean a whole fan base isn't talking about the most important position in the game.

I went with official forums or the most popular for a reason, gphat. Forums like realgm just seem to be a bunch of trolls or kids not really discussing anything. This forum kinda is the official bears forum and reality is it is just 7 to 8 loud people consistently talking about one guy. Points for trying though

The Dallas Forum I provided is the official forum not the one you provided, I used the same forum you did with Atlanta, and the 49ers forum I linked has more users than CCS.

What I don't get is if the Cutler talk bothers you so much, why do you continue to post here. There are other boards that don't focus as much on Cutler as this board that you can post about other topics on. This isn't me saying you should leave, because outside of you whining about posters talking about Cutler you are a pretty good poster. I can typically have discussion with you and it not turn ugly. I'm just saying if the one dominating topic on here bothers you so much, what is making you come back to CCS everyday?

I don't think it's the topic on general that bothers him, but the fact that every thread gets turned into the same thing. It is actually only a few posters that do it too.

Stockholm syndrome duh. Every once in a while this forum isn't just pure bitching and Cutler talk. That's when I enjoy it most. Like I said it wouldn't be dominated by Cutler talk if it weren't for the same posters
