The thing that always bothered me about SRV is that his playing was always easy to understand..It wasnt complicated, but it was always balls out .
If ya had the speed in your fingers, it was easy to understand what he was playing..Of course, getting that speed wasnt an easy task
Plus he had an unmistakable sound

I agree completely. I find myself enjoying SRV but at the same time think it's kind of boring. Jimmy Page can sound fantastic playing any style, multiple different kinds of guitars and just gets it right with ease.

SRV= Pentatonic Scale
Mark Knopfler is another guy like Page..I even heard him in a duet with Chet Atkins..Never boring, always kept you engrossed

Pentatonic scale is the bread and butter of all blues based guitar playing. It doesn't have to be boring. Timely runs, good use of bends and creative use of the flat 5 and you can play a wicked solo without leaving your base pentatonic area.

Sorry, HHM was the one who mentioned boring, you said his style bothered you. My prior post applies towards anyone who thinks pentatonic-based guitar playing necessarily has to be boring/bothersome/bad.

I never said he implied pentatonic was boring. YOU were the one who said his style bothers you because it's easy to understand, then went on to clarify that he plays pentatonic (which is pretty fucking obvious considering he's a blues based player).
