That sounds really interesting. Although I don't get why a social media specialist would need to be in a particular city.

I guess the only reason may be that's where the time-clock is, lol.

So I have a connection to a tool and die place. They're apparently crazy busy and have had some problems with some folks not doing the right thing. They are huge Hawks fans, so that's good. My sister knows the office lady, who is married to the owners son, who also works there. It is a family business, small, about 20 or so employees. I have worked at a small place before where nepotism runs rampant and it was the smoothest run place, most fun, friendly, understanding place to work in the history of working. That was the propeller place. I didn't consider it work. It was a place I went to for like 8 hours and got paid.

I wonder if this place is anything like that. I also wonder about the pay. I hate to be like that, really, but what with a mortgage and such, I don't really have a choice. I will be sending them my resume, as it doesn't hurt. If they ask me in for an interview, great, but again, I am concerned about the monetary aspect.

You have connections to a tool and die place?

If you can get the job and learn anything about machining & tool and die work, take it.

Jobs like that are harder to outsource. There is always a need for people that can make something precise and of high quality, a tool or a machining fixture for example, that is needed RIGHT NOW.

The machine shop I work in, we send some stuff across town because I don't have the tooling and machines to do a lot of it, and yes, I will admit, I don't have the knowledge and/or comfort level for some of it that I probably could do with what I have at hand.

I was told that they really picked up after the tsunami in Japan. Maybe Japan and their tool and die businesses got washed out or there is so much rebuilding is needed that things are that busy.

I am worried about the business as a whole drying up.

That's the kind of job I was looking for here in FL about a year ago Tater (with that pay range) as I have experience in electronics assembly and rework. I can't imagine jobs paying the same amount here and in the greater Chicagoland area. Sad to see that is the case.

True, but housing, property, gas... is much less expensive too. Plus you have lower taxes.

I think that is what he's saying, it's sad to see them underpaid like that here. If the same job is the same price there.

The NFL can blow my ass.

A bit of an update. Haven't heard shit from the die place. Oh well.

I do have a lead on a few jobs at one place. I think I would be perfect there. It is a place that makes breast pumps.

I would need to get into shape to be a roughneck.

Actually they need a ton of different jobs out in the western North Dakota oil fields. The oil fields out there are looking for a lot of drivers too, might need to know how to drive a semi for that though. They pay unbelievable out there too, Wal-Mart and McDonalds are paying up to 20 dollars an hour to start. Only problem is a severe lack of housing and the cost of living out there is through the roof right now, but if you can find a way to live out there you could do that for a few years and you'd make a ton of money

I don't think I could handle that shit out the in the oil patch. Dangerous, lonely, blah blah blah.

It is tough to find a job. Especially if you don't have any college learnin'. I wouldn't know what to do in college anyway, so it is whatever. My own fault anyway.
