I think we as fans also have a Stanley Cup Hangover.

Honestly I think we all do. Think we are struggling trying to get understand this team this season and it's causing us all to become major prick bones. I say we march to the U.C. holding hands singing here come the hawks in the style of Enya.

I don't really see much of a change to the boards myself to be honest. I just think there was such an amazing energy last year and even the year prior with the Hawks that we all were just always in strong spirits. And we have been watching this club build into what it was last season. After all we come here to talk about the Hawks more than anything else. This years been an unusual season. I think the majority of us have expected more and because we are a bit disappointed so far we are being a bit prickish. Not me though I am awsome and adorable.

The other day Bri was afraid to post something in the Seabs/duncs thread. Is it because she was afraid of being ridiculed? Maybe. And to me that ain't kosher. I think whaler hit it on the head.

I want people to not be afraid of posting here. Yeah, we poke fun at each other, maybe say you're Special person or whatever, but quite a few seemingly never got a proper response.

I and at least one other poster told her to post it. Boy if that happened on teh 300 level there wouldn't be a site over there.

You want the impossible but hey, go for it.

As of today I am stepping down. You can't keep everyone happy. It will never work. There are always going to be some that just don't get along with others. But it has taught me a valuable lesson, so everything is a learning experience.

If you are afraid to post on any message board you shouldnt' be posting on message boards.

I made the comment on Twitter yesterday that this place used to be just like the concourse of Section 325 between periods of the games.

We'd talk about the game, bullshit, call each other names, try and throw popcorn down women's shirts.

It is NOT like that now, and is the main reason why so many of the founding posters have left.

Can it be like that again? Hopefully. But the conversations need to flow, unencumbered.

If you can't be respectful, just keep your mouth shut.

If you you don't like someone's opinion, counter it with your own opinion.

If their opinion is too radical and they never seem to agree with you?

Tough shit...Continue the debate or just move on. As soon as you get pissed off in a forum like this, you immediately have lost the argument.

Mods need to watch from afar. Unless death is threatened, there's no need to interfere. It'll work itself out

And tomorrow is another day.

Wouldn't know I was never in the concourse but it was nothing like the Kettle One and never has been, and that too has changed over the years.

That is not why many of the founding posters have left. You are 100% incorrect. You can assume all you want but I'm telling you, you are wrong. There are things you have no idea about. Trust me

Can it be like that again? Hopefully. But the conversations need to flow, unencumbered.

No, because there are posters still here posting that others left in disagreement with. I am not going to use examples because I won't send them under the bus, but Jim you are not a mod and have no clue what you are talking about because you have not dealt with most of them who by the way had come to one of us at some point.

Two of them, "founding posters as you say" got mad because they were warned, and FYI not by me!

If you can't be respectful, just keep your mouth shut.

Really? Did you read the NUMBEROUS responses to Fluff on a daily basis? By 90% regular posters? Did you read Fluff call them out as trolling for him? Or did you just ***** because he was being cencored? I know which one you did and so do you.

If you you don't like someone's opinion, counter it with your own opinion.

If their opinion is too radical and they never seem to agree with you?

Tough shit...Continue the debate or just move on. As soon as you get pissed off in a forum like this, you immediately have lost the argument.

It's not that easy which is why some posters have come and gone. As for founding members I'm not sure which you are talking about, but I'm sure most of us that deal with the shit day to day would know and have a reason for most.

Mods need to watch from afar. Unless death is threatened, there's no need to interfere. It'll work itself out

You really have no clue because you have not seen anything. You have formulated an opinion from in incomplete set of variables.

And I'm not longer a mod so I could care less, but you are wrong.

And don't even account for the many posters we lost on teh three different site changes. Members that couldn't ever re log in..... Did you even know some of those people existed or did you just lump them into your other group? I'd bet money you didn't know.

Drama drama drama.

No offense but who cares about the 300level board? I can't stand those pretentious douchebags. I spent maybe a total of 1 week on that site and I got sick of it so fast. Honestly I would rather hang out on the O boards than spend my time listening to the hot air that comes out of some of their mouths. I find their pretentiousness far more threatening than any troll on here or elsewhere.

Anyways what I like about here isn't just the community and it is a great one. Shit I feel like some of you are tight friends to be honest and I would open my doors to any of you and I know I have received those offers in return many times by community members here. But this site is also unique in it's own right. And that's something I would never want changed. I do like that this board is pretty much uncensored and I think it is for the most part. I like that this board is opinionated and that there is such a diverse collection of us on here. I don't get that sense from any other Hawk related board. I don't see eye to eye with everyone but I do respect everyones values and opinions even if they stray far from mine. I think most of us do respect each other. And I think that is the key word for describing this board.

I still think the hockey chat on these boards is top notch. Yes I think some topics get beat on to death and that's when we all start ridiculing and being dinks to one another. That happens on any discussion board though. Some don't see every post ever posted so things will get resaid.

I think because there are different level of fans here that it humbles the board. Unlike places like the 300 level where everyone seems to see themselves as the worlds biggest hockey fan and know it all that it becomes a contest rather than a discussion board. Frankly 80% of those on the 300 level know jack shit about this game. They might now a lot about the Hawks, or they think they do, but they know jack shit about this game. I think forums on here like the NHL talk forum are insightful and are usually full of very strong opinions and hockey know. I don't get that feeling from other Hawk related boards in their NHL forums.

And at the end of the day this is all supposed to be fun. And this is a fun board. That's all I care about. I think everyone should feel like they can come to this board and have fun. If they want pretentious talk then go to the other ones. This one needs to stay unique to itself.

I used to feel that way aboot The 300 Level, but they grew on me.

Lot's of knowledge, and lots of old time Hawks fans.

The thing they do that I like is they have certain topics that are off limits 'cause they've been beaten to death.

One of them is "How much Bill Wirtz sucked."

That's a great idea.

How many times does it need to be brought up that Wirtz was a prick?

You're right about everyone being tight friends. I just miss some of those that used to be here.

I know that many of them left because they felt expression was being squelched.

I have been sad for a long time because people are missing. I have never been able to find out why Klemmer never comes here anymore. I know people leave for different reasons: family obligations, work, illness, and some because they just aren't happy here. I haven't even see Eruns on lately. I know of someone else that recently left, and I felt really bad about it cause he was a good person and a good poster.

I know I am different than most people on here. I am much more tolerant and I try to look at things from all sides. I am wise enough to know you can't change who people are. Some people thrive on being combative and stirring the pot and others are like me and like peace and harmony.

I admit there are times when I get depressed on here because people just have to be so rude and nasty to each other. It really bothers me that people think it's OK to treat each other that way. Life is tough enough. Why make it tougher. I try to look for the good in everyone. Even though I know there are people on here that don't like me I stick around because someone has to be the voice of common decency and the protector of the little guy when things get really ugly. And I stay because I see all those souls who are going through a difficult time and need a friend when everyone else seems to be oblivious to their cries for help. You can all laugh at that, but people tell me their troubles all the time because they know I won't judge or belittle them and that I won't repeat anything they tell me. I like to think I help them in some small way.

I know I came on here because all of the people on the O-boards who's opinions I really respected came here. And I liked the atmosphere and the fun on this board. Now we have lost some fun people on here which sucks. And like TCD said a tougher year for the Hawks may be a factor. And like Bri said some people make insensitive mean comments. But I have made some really close friends on here. And I wouldn't want to lose them.

I would be interested to hear these lists of the people you all miss. I would also love to hear who you think are the unsavory types that are still here.

I understand everyone wants a safe comfortable forum where you can exchange ideas and basically kill some time. But a lot of you, all of us infact at one time or another, have lost sight of the cardinal tenent of a message board...its just words. I don't give a shit about the few bad examples that happened over the last two years and were blasted in the media either. Suicides from bullying occurred with very different other factors including age and intimacy of the attackers.

It really is simple, post your thoughts, don't hide, and if you can't handle the tone, tune it out. No one is forcing you to read or post. Some people can and want to continue the discussion. That shouldn't give ANY mod license to play censor thereby changing history. Now if you see one guy trolling, then the mods can and should get rid of them. Sacrifice one for the good of all. Fluffle became that poster recently, Jim, he was very close minded but still pushed people to remind him of it like a simpleton holding his hand to a flame.

It's better to have a pain-in the-ass poster like Fluff, then to compromise free expression by banning him.

No one has been able to give one concrete reason why he was banned.

What EXACTLY did he do that would be considered trolling?

This whole "trolling" definition is as elusive as Sasquatch.

No one can define it, but everyone seems to think Fluff is guilty of it.

Don't know if that was directed at me or not. I never said anything about unsavory characters, but I do miss a bunch of people like Soaps, Klemmer, Howcho, Eruns, Getinthere, Larmers, Rdrhwke, Tbird, even Graham and Cid. You don't have to like someone to miss them. For Pete's sake (no pun intended) I even notice when you're on a break and miss you. I am the only one that showed any concern when Stu was missing in action and there are times when I would like nothing better than to pop the snot out of him. But that is just Stu and I accept him as he is. We're like a family and every family has it's share of drama queens, and know it alls, and just plain bad eggs, but at the end of the day you're still a family. I can honestly say I have never complained about anyone. I handle it myself or I just let it go.

I have head from many of those folks, and they all agree that the lack of free expression, combined with the squelching of minority opinions, is the reason they don't come by.

I won't mention names.....It's not my story to tell.

Who are you kidding? You're King ******!

All kidding aside though, I'm with you on this, especially emphasis on the Stanley Cup Hangover. I think the relative lack of success on the ice compared to last year is definitely hanging like a cloud over the boards and making the mood sour. I know that's kept me away at times this season, it's just uncomfortable. I understand the Hawks aren't performing as well as last year, but we, just like the players, can (and I think will) be better.

Why can't we all just get along? Since a few posters left, the boards have also become a bit LESS hostile, lets not ignore that.

I just learned to lighten up and roll with the punches and my experience on IHN just got better.

I think most are just uptight with the Hawks not so good season and use this forum as an outlet for that displeasure.

All I remember is that he was under fire from several directions. It gets kinda hard to defend yourself on more than one front. Just ask the Germans.

Regardless, he was a goof, but being a goof isn't a reason to be banned. At least not it wasn't the last time I looked at the TOS.

Debate the point into then ground, and then move on.

Sorry, but this place is better with no opinion silenced, no matter how fucked that opinion may be.
