No Dirk was the obvious chocie he has never been on a cover and is deserving

Drose is 22 he will get his chance

Dirk too. But Rose would have been an obvious choice as well. The MVP on a popular team in the 3rd largest market.

Dallas is a top 4 or 6 market and Dirk was really overlooked in the MVP discussion.

did Steve Nash ever get on a cover of a video game? I think he was ver looked as well

I really always thought Steve Nash was always a bit overhyped. I'm not sure if he ever got on a cover but, if he did, guys like Gary Payton, John Stockton, and Jason Kidd deserved it more

if they continue with the legends on the cover, maybe theyll go to someone like hakeem, maybe big-O or even bill russel.

and maybe now instead of just mj's legendary games, they will have bird's and magic's legendary games as well?

i didnt think they could top 2k11, but if they expand this "legends" concept, and open it up to other legends (and their sneakers!), this franchise could reach amazing heights!

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
To my knowledge, I have never seen Nash on a game cover. Just saying. I know that Kidd got a cover (Live 2003 I think?) and maybe Payton too (not sure about him though). Just throwing that out there.

My hypothesis on why current NBA players didn't get a cover: the lockout. The NBA would be making money from the NBA PU, which even if flipped, neither could do right now because of the labor negotiations.

The covers aren't worth the hype though. And when they release a template I'm making my own with Derrick Rose on it. I'll share it with those interested...

It's not the same thing. Kobe carried the Lakers much more than Nash carried the Suns that year.

Nash is interesting. The first MVP he won, there were a lot of factors.

Is was his first year on the Suns and there was a big turn around. So that gets everyone's attention.
I also think the Suns' style had a lot to do with that. At that time, scoring in the NBA was down and, at times, pretty ugly outside of Lakers vs. Kings.
The Suns' style that year, and the next few, was a return to 80s style. I think a lot of people liked that.
The Suns can't play that style without Nash. Was Nash better than Kobe, no. But like we've talked about in a previous thread - it's not about just being better.

Nash's second MVP was won on another factor. The fact that Nash led the Suns to 54 wins with Amare being out for all but 3 games. That won him the MVP.
Had Amare been healthy and they won 60, Nash would not have won MVP. But keeping the Suns at the top of the West without the 2nd best, or best, player was the reason Nash won.

Is it still the NBA 2k09 platform?!?!

Create a functional game engine and UI.
Take a year to release bug fixes, call it the next year's release.
Buzz up the cover athletes.
Repeat for 5 years.

This is sounding more and more like EA, and this terrible cycle is why so many people searched so hard for alternatives.

There was a time where developers would release a complete overhaul every year, and if it was THAT good, every other year. Now I'm just paying new-game prices so they can afford to get the absolute most expensive licensing for cover athletes. Thank you.

Yeah, but it's not the 3rd. And Derrick Rose is more popular than Dirk.

When NBA 2K11 did their ad campaign last year, Derrick Rose was the centerpiece - for all the stuff outside of MJ. So 2K Sports is obviously comfortable with Derrick Rose.

So in my opinion, Derrick Rose was more cover-worthy than Dirk. Winning a title isn't the only thing that makes you a choice for a video game cover.

Allen Iverson was the cover athlete for NBA 2K for about the first 3 or 4 years. While Shaq and Duncan were winning the titles. Iverson was more popular.

well like i said i think he was def robbed the 2nd yr & i guess i could agree with the 1st yr besause the 1st yr turnaround he did was great but in yr 2 stat or not that was kobes award & he was shafted point blank

No, NBA 2K11 was far superior to NBA 2K10 and NBA 2K9.

I didn't like NBA 2K9, first time I didn't play the series (traded it in after 2 weeks) since 2K2. NBA 2K10 was so full of issues, bugs, league games dropping, I got rid of that too.

But NBA 2K11, with Jordan, classic teams, and the editing abilities, was far different from any other NBA 2K game is the series.

Now this, I assume, will have some sort of Magic, Bird game mode, like the Jordan challenge. And maybe even another Jordan challenge. That's enough for me.

And the price hasn't changed. NBA 2K has been 59.99 (on 360 and Ps3) since NBA 2K6 come out on Xbox 360 in 2005. And NBA 2K11 was dropped to 39.99 sometime in Feb, I think? I actually bought a copy for my cousin when it dropped.

Well, I think Shawn Marion was just as valuable to the Suns as Nash was the 2nd year. Amare's absence made them much more reliant on Marion than anything else.

The Lakers finished only 8 games behind the Suns and Kobe just carried that team.

To me, Kobe edges out Nash for the MVP.

The second year should have been Kobe. I was shocked Nash won a 2nd time. I was surprised he got it the first time. But I know why.

If Amare was healthy, there wouldn't have been that storyline of "Nash keeps Suns on top despite Amare injury."

Strange how things work out. But voters obviously took that into consideration.
