Anyone that wants to think Rizzo has an above average ceiling is fine. Calling his ceiling being Paulie is crazy talk. Could it happen? Sure. Could the 2012 Cubs make the playoffs? Sure. But that is the same type of crazy talk
Okay saying a top 50 prospect ceiling is a very good major league player is crazy talk but omitting Frank Thomas from a list of Hall of Fame 1B is clear bias?
I think part of the issue is what are we talking about is Paul Konerko. Konerko has put up some of his best seasons at age 34, 35, and now 36. Those seasons have been near elite or elite level production. I am not saying that those seasons are what Rizzo's ceiling are, but a mid 800 OPS, which is Konerko's career OPS btw, is a perfectly reasonable estimation for his ceiling. For example just this year John Sickels wrote that Rizzo's maximum outcome, i.e. ceiling, was Ryan Howard, but I guess he is crazy too.
