I like the couple of signings we've had, good depth guys. O'Donnell probably won't play a ton for us if we resign Campoli, still a good 7th D-man, means we probably won't have to see Scott skate backwards.

Andrew Brunette signs with the Hawks. 1yr. 2mil.

Tim Sassone

Brunette a real nice addition for #Blackhawks. A guy who could play in the top six

Would love to have Mad Max. O D is like a big dumb dog and kind of shady, but he should bring some toughness.

So Mayers comes in for our 3rd-4th line and should help the PK. Then we sign Andrew Brunette, a guy who throughout his career has been money on the PP. Great job by Stan trying to strengthen our special teams

Great contract....just 1yr

Played all 82 last year, 18g, 28a, not afraid to go to the net. Good deal.

Add a center and one more gritty 4th liner and it'll be a great day for the Hawks.

@TimSassone Tim Sassone

#Blackhawks still have $7.87 million in cap space so they might not be done.

So far so good because I don't think we've outrageously overpaid for anyone.... even Montador at this point comparatively.

The Chicago Blackhawks signed veterans Jamal Mayers and Sean O'Donnell to one-year contracts.

ESPNChicago.com Blackhawks blog

The latest news from Hawks beat reporter Jesse Rogers. Blog

Mayers, 36, has played for four teams in the NHL since entering the league in 1996. He was a longtime St. Louis Blues tough guy with 106 career fights, including 12 last season for the San Jose Sharks. Mayers had three goals and 11 assists with 124 penalty minutes in 2010-2011.

Mayers fills a fourth-line role for toughness the Hawks said they were looking for this free agency period.

O'Donnell, who turns 40 on Oct. 13, provides size (6 foot 3, 234 pounds) to a defense which has been trying to get bigger since the end of the season. He broke into the league in 1994, and the Hawks are his eighth NHL team, including two stints in Los Angeles. He spent last season in Philadelphia. He is durable, missing just 12 games since the lockout ended in 2005-2006.

Sorry Ton...this was a good pick up for the price

TSNBobMcKenzie: Just to clarify since I apparently can't type - doh - Goc's deal in FLA is 3 x $1.7M. Sorry about that shoddy work.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
So far I can't say I'm disappointed with any contracts.

Good Job so far. Still need the Center, though.

Mayers, O'Donnell, Montador, Brunette.

We've added some grit and Brunette isn't afraid to go to the net. Really happy with the day so far.

And I think Smith may be starting/battling for a spot...with wingers -

Sharp/Kane

Olesz/Hossa

Brunette....Frolik??

Mayers/Bickell

That would give the Hawks still with 8.6mil (with still needing to sign Frolik)

I think they're looking at a trade for a C.

Then again, I think asphalt is a rectal problem.
