Dude, it doesn't get much easier to vote. Showing ID should be the least of your problems. The law isn't arbitrary, as you state. When you say "certain groups" you are talking about the fucking illegals who shouldn't be voting in the first place. I'll put up with a ton of discussion from people from all sides of an argument, but stupidity like this makes me just want to put your irrelevant ass on ignore. This isn't Iraq where people are risking death to go to the polls.

Boohooo, someone has a different opinion, better ignore them. No wonder shit's fucked up in your country when every different opinion is met with the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and going "lalalala". What sort of society do you think you'll get when everyone is living in their own little bubble surrounded with similar bubbles and no one is willing to question their own opinions and consider the merits of other viewpoints? A shitty society, that's what. Now put me on ignore, before I disturb your sensibilities even more. Same for IHF, if he hasn't already.

Typical response from someone on that side of this issue. I hardly think this country's problems are caused by honest Americans who think you should prove your "citizenship" in order to elect their leaders (no matter how bad and corrupt a lot of them are.)

Oh, and not needing ID to prove you can vote, well before going in the booth btw so those with fears of the gubbament knowing who you voted for stupid, makes the next ACORN that much easier.

But you don't hear those who are liberal minded having issues with ACORN. I guess it is okay if it supports your political position.

Yet those that desire to see standards in place to protect the sovereignty of our voting system are just bigots, eh? I love being singled out and words being used to describe me to fit their attack style agenda.

Wisconsin Governor's office confident voter ID law is constitutional, despite lawsuits

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker’s office says Wisconsin’s new photo ID law for voting is constitutional – and it will survive a second legal challenge that came up Tuesday. The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit in federal court, two months after the League of Women Voters filed its suit in state court. Both groups say the law is unconstitutional. The Republican Walker is one of the defendants in the ACLU’s suit, which alleges that six classes of people will find it harder if not impossible to get the ID’s they need to vote. The lead plaintiff is an 84-year-old village board member from Brokaw who said she needed a copy of her birth certificate to get an ID – and to get the birth certificate, she had to pay over $200 to change a misspelled maiden name on that document. The ACLU equates that to a poll tax. Dana Brueck of the State Justice Department said the allegations are not new. Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie said at least 15 other states have adopted some form of photo ID for voting, and it’s been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. Werwie said the law is needed to ensure the integrity of elections. There’s been very little voter fraud across the state, which was the main argument druing the run-up to passage.

Although trying not to get involved in these Political Discussions any longer, what you type there works both ways, for all parties involved.

That is all.

So ACORN was not involved in criminal activities involving voter fraud? ACORN made a mockery of our voting system.

In this thread we are discussing voter Id's. For the good of all photo identification is a step in the right direction of cleaning up voter fraud IMO.

I don't buy into the commentary that there will always be voter fraud so in other words we should do nothing to try to address the issue. I find it unbelievable that you do not have to present a photo ID in our federal election cycle. To say it warrants discrimination to certain classes to do so is assanine.

No, it is the simple fact that you don't fucking live in the USA and aren't an American citizen, yet you continue to spout shit about OUR laws like it is somehow going to affect you. There are plenty of US citizens here that I don't agree with from time to time and I have no problem with that. TCD isn't an American citizen either, yet he doesn't come on here and ***** about American laws all the time. When it comes to voting, our president, and our laws your opinion really doesn't matter.

I was not commenting on the political discussion at hand, rather the point you made in general. But thanks for playing I'm not biting.

I'm sure someone else will though. And I'm more than aware what the discussion was sparky!

It is hard to believe these laws are not already in place, let alone a big issue for some. If your a citizen, do you not even have a social security card? It seems like common sense....

How do these people get a drivers license? A passport? Travel out of the country? Cash a check.....?

What I find ironic is that those "poor and minorities" that the AG's office discusses are probably some of those same 1 in 6 Americans who collect some form of government aid.

Question, do you have to prove who you are to collect government benefits or do we just "take their word" for it?

Your evidence of this?

Contrary to popular wordplay, the only one you make an ass of when you assume is you.

Guess I'm an ass too, considering that I agree with IHF's opinion

I'm starting to like Oregon's method more and more. You register when you get a state ID, and must have a state ID to get a registration. Then, your ballot is mailed to you. You fill it out, mail it back, or return the ballot to the nearest county registrar.

I have no problem with showing ID to vote, but something tells me the fear is that in some of those states, there is discrimination for getting said state-issued ID's, hence the issues.
