See right off the bat your premise is showing you're not thinking critically. Regardless of what the fans want, Ryan poles is the decision maker. One of the reasons I am still uncertain on fields is that it's entirely possible that Ryan trades the first overall pick for more picks, and values a quarterback other than justin or Caleb or even Drake Maye. He might trade the first overall pick and Fields...
If you're going to think critically, you have to take yourself out of the fan perspective and put yourself in the perspective of a GM considering every possibility. And then look at the actions and behaviors around the team and some of the things that have been quoted and try to work backwards from that.
We're not talking about all that. Funny you talk about critical thinking but then refuse to.
He either wants Fields or he wants a QB with #1. Keeping that a secret does not help the value of either.
There is no rational reason for a smokescreen with either situation.
Nobody is trading Fields and the #1 to get a different QB later.
If KC or GB had the #1 when they got Mahomes or Rodgers they either would've got different QBs with #1 or they would've got those QBs with #1. Nobody is playing games with the #1 when they want a QB.
Not only would that be too big of a risk it would piss off the QB you took at #26 if you had the #1 and traded back so you could save a few dollars on their rookie contract.
I am out of this I don't care what QB we have between them. I only say no thanks to the other ones but Maye is close enough to Williams I could warm up to that.
You obviously are sold on Fields being able to do it after 3 years of nothing to help him learn. I'm not.
The closest I can come to that is to say get the haul for #1, get an offense and then if Fields still can't do it get a QB in '25-'26 with that offense in place. And a lot of that is because I don't trust the Bears to get a QB and fill in the offense later.
There is always a chance however unlikely that Poles values another rookie QB higher than both of them. We would have no way of knowing.
See above. You still take that QB #1 because anyone you trade #1 to is going there for a QB.
