Id like to see Clendening get a shot this year (due to us moving Seabs, Oduya, or Leddy) so when we need to bring in some youth in 2016-17 we aren't fucked with rookies on the backend.

Clendening was 1st team all rookie as a 1st year AHL'er plus was on the second team all AHL that same season.

Last year he was first team all AHL and led team in scoring.

He certainly seems ready for the jump. Just don't see Q giving him a chance.

If Q didn't trust Leddy then he ain't going to trust Adam. Leddy is better than Adam right now; just makes way more.

Listening to hockey on the radio just sucks, you can be the greatest play by play guy in the world its still going to suck.

I agree with Maiden. While viewing the game is the obvious best, listening isn't bad either. You miss the smaller details, but it's enough regardless.

You miss a hell of a lot more than just small details. Again its not their fault, theres just no way to convey it quickly and articulately enough.

Wideman and Murray are fantastic. John paints a beautiful picture and does a good job of staying with the play. Bet man in the biz if you ask me.

John and Troy are fantastic I agree. I enjoy radio games here and there through a season. Something about radio hockey that is nostalgic. When you have a good team like John and Troy it makes radio games that much more enjoyable. I think it's a lost art form being able to call games on the radio. Most just don't do it well at all anymore. When it's done well and the viewer already has a good well rounded idea about how the basics of the game look I don't think one actually misses much. Obviously its better to actually see a remarkable goal or a pass etc etc. It's the job of the color commentator to describe it in better detail and in their best words after the play by play call. Now we have color guys talking about what food they are eating and what they watched on tv last night.

I have always been in the camp of wanting John and Troy on the TV side of things. I don't know if I am in that camp anymore as I think the television broadcast bigwigs would water them both down. But for their own furthered careers I would still back them if they ever did get the television deal in the future.

Just not being able to describe play away from the puck, at any given time, and seeing something potentially develop (or not) away from the puck, only until after it either happens or doesn't happen, that kills it for me. That alone is a huge detail. You get the broadest of broad strokes of a hockey game listening to it on the radio. You try to force anything more and it's even worse, the game just moves too fast. I mean, I don't disagree, John and Troy could be the best at it, but it's still nowhere near enough for me.

Fair enough point about action away from the puck which radio doesn't pick up well on. Can't argue against that. I can argue that there are some really shitty televised games with horrible camera placements and angles which miss action away from the puck also. Different topic though.

I'll say this. If it's a playoff game my first choice will never be to listen to a radio game unless there were no other choice. But for a regular season game? I'm good with radio esp if its a game against the likes of the Preds. John and Troy actually make Blackhawks/Preds game worth paying attention to. There is the kicker with Radio and John and Troy. Radio can actually make a real shitty boring game entertaining. Television can sometimes make a boring game even worse. Next season during a real boring reg season game switch over to the radio call of the game...guarantee the game is more entertaining while not forced to watch it but only listen. But again that could be Pat and Eddies fault they neeeever make a boring game better..eeeever. And that is why they are shitty.

I couldn't care less who the broadcasters are on TV to be honest, I just need to be able to see it live. The few times I've tried listening to it on radio when there was no other option, it was just endlessly frustrating to me. Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand getting what developed into a goal or even just a scoring opportunity being described second hand after it already happened and while play has probably already resumed from it. Just doesn't work for me. All the excitement, being on the edge of your seat seeing something develop in real time, just completely absent.

Radio reminds me of growing up, when for no good reason I couldn't watch Blackhawks games.

Ahhhhh, the good ol' days. I remember driving from bar to bar every game trying to find one that got an illegal feed on TV. I was easy at first, but then they started cracking (I heard) and it got more and more difficult to find a bar.

When I was really young, the first period of home games wasn't even broadcast on the radio.

They would do the "First Period Show" and just give highlights.

Wirtzian logic...

Those who were around pre-Rocky knows how the only way to follow the Hawks was to listen to the home games on the radio

You're able to learn to vision the game through radio play by play. Especially if you went to the stadium and have an idea of what's happening.

If you just started watching the last few years, I can understand why some would have no clue
