You bring up a good point in general about the modern artists of today..To me they seem more interested in the visuals than the quality of their music..
Perfect example was Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga on the Grammy's
Tony was just trying to sing the song, and there was Gaga all dressed up like Jessica Rabbit, waving her hands in front of Bennett's face with 4 inch nails making a spectacle of herself. I thought she was gonna put Bennett's eye out... Her voice is very good, but ya couldn't concentrate on it because she looked so out of place in the jazz setting Bennett and his group displayed. If she would have toned down the visual, the performance would have been very good..
BTW...Nice guitar solo by one of Bennett's guys
I know we are all old cranky people around here who are frightened and confused with the modern world but the spectacle that is the music industry has never been shy to gimmick and visuals. Even before MTV showed up, to take it all to higher levels, there were still the theatrics within the industry at live shows and how many musicians advertised themselves.
