Hard alcohol still hurts the process... alcohol is alot like sugar to your body, it will jump on it and burn it before anything else.
Makes sense to me. Got all my heavy drinking done in my younger days anyway. Haven't felt the need in years...decades even. Outside of an occasional single glass of wine at dinner, I could count the number of times I drank alcohol in the past 10 years on 1 hand.

I definitely salt my food quite a bit.

I eat pretty boring day in and day out, Spartan.

Every single week day is pretty much the exact same:

1. DD Large coffee with just cream, and an Atkin's Ham/cheese omelette
2. Atkin's protein shake
3. Atkin's meal bar with water
4. Atkin's snack bar with water
5. Bacon (3-5 strips) and Eggs (2-3 large, scrambled or fried over-medium) OR Bratwurst (3-4) with just yellow or dijon mustard
6. Atkin's snack bar and usually some string cheese or the like

In an ideal setup I stop eating after that 6pm meal, and fast 6pm-8am, but I find time and time again my blood sugar starts crashing on me overnight.

The weekend or days off go:

1. Coffee with just cream, and an Atkin's Ham/cheese omelette
2. Atkins meal bar, this is lunch I tend to skip the morning snack.
3. Atkins snack bar and/or string cheese and/or pork rinds
4. Bacon/Eggs or Bratwurst with mustard (OR this is where I have a cheat meal)
5. Atkins snack bar and string cheese or the like.

My troubles are alcohol cheating, especially at family gatherings because usually beer is the main available drink.

And also if I go out, I generally don't try to stay low-carb, I just accept I am eating a bad meal.... like we're doing Connie's Pizza a week from Saturday for my sister/brother inlaw's bdays... If I am going to go, I tend to just accept I am eating/drinking carbs.

Yeah, but this doesn't help with my addition to twiced baked potatoes!
I remember reading about a thing about cooking potatoes but not eating them til they were cold again. When they cool down they harden because the resistant starch is formed and is considered a prebiotic. It digests slowly and thus has less of a glycemic index while keeping ya satiated longer. There really is such a thing as the potato diet where people eat nothing but cooled down potatoes for periods of time. Don't know how nutritious that is and I think they overestimate how much less the glycemic index of a cooled potato is but it is a thing.

I don't miss potatoes at all....probably cause I still eat sweet potatoes occasionally. They get a pass from me cause they're said to be the most nutritious and they taste pretty damn good too.

Maybe your problem is you're too damn social. I like to tell people I'm too busy with my kids to give anybody else the time of day.
. Oddly enough, I've never been one who liked eating out anyway. Would still gear myself to the meats and green veggies known to be lower in carbs. Do remember eating at a place in Brooklyn last year with the fam, had seafood that was awesome and they had brussel sprouts and seaweed that tasted far better than one would hope for.

Where keto/low carb are left behind for these special events, IF could normally pick up the slack. Think you've mentioned before how going longer periods of not eating, w/diabetes, is not an option. But, under normal circumstances, one could plan ahead for such cheat days at social events by just eating that one big cheat meal and taking in no other calories from food or drink the rest of the day.

Good for you guys. I'm way to much of a cheap ass to drop 20 bux on nuts. Even if they are macadamia!

I used to think that way. But now I see it a little like buying a steak...almost.

The nuts are a great snack that will last more than a week and have good health benefits.

It can get old, but watch the cauliflower crust. A lot of places due like 60/40 with flour being the 40.

I eat the shit out of riced cauliflower and rice broccoli. Usually a staple when I meal prep.
