p.s. Looks like you have another example this time directly from Phil about Kobe using all of his influence to bounce out Shaq out of LA.

Phil wrote, 'The next subject was Shaquille. "Will Shaq's presence on this team color your decision to come back or not?" I asked [Kobe].

"Yes, it does," he said.

"There's no doubt about that," he said. "I've done that for eight years with him, but I'm tired of being a sidekick." His sentiment came as no surprise, obviously. In the last few years the entire city of Los Angeles has heard many times from many "sources" that Kobe was no longer willing to play a subservient role to Shaquille. But to hear it in the words of the only source that matters, to hear Kobe say "sidekick," really struck me.'

Dude, they never even used the word "fundamentals" in that clip. They sure as hell didn't come up with your list of 6 points. They used "basketball skills". As far as we know, Phil Jackson may think Steve Kerr has better "basketball skills" than either Jordon or Kobe. Maybe Phil thinks Kobe would do well in the All-Star game skills challenge. I thought the important part of the video is Phil talking about MJ's superiority as an athlete and how much more efficient Jordan is compared to Kobe.

I also do know that Phil Jackson never said to trade MJ like he told Lakers to trade Kobe. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketbal...2/jackson/index.html

You have just officially changed the subject and started a new thread. They actually have to use fundamentals because otherwise they could be talking anything right? They COULD be talking about who makes the best ham sandwich......any skill.....get the f--- outta here with that bull.

Not going to address the rest...I am not delusional enough to think Kobe is not flawed...he is...so what is your point?

AND WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT AT HAND? You are telling me that because Phil wanted Kobe gone 5 years ago that his statement that Kobe has more skills than Jordan on the basketball court is invalid? You don't know the nature of these people's relationship at this time neither do I...

Ask yourself this...who was one of the primary sources for The Jordan Rules? Have any clue? A hint? Who gave inside information about Jordan being an asshole to his teammates and others in the organization? Give you a hint...its the guy you say loves MJ so much...so again...WHAT'S YOUR POINT!

The thread is called, "Re:Kobe vs. MJ for the LAST TIME ALREADY!" I think it's all fair game. I'm not the only one. It seems like you want to talk about Basketball skills but you also talk about MJ dissing rappers. :p

Hey, it's your video...Phil can't even bring himself to say that Kobe has a better outside shot w/o clarifying "maybe". Talk about less than definitive.

Go check p. 15 of Sacred Hoops where Jackson writes "[MJ] was versatile enough to lay all five positions on the floor, and could show by example how the system worked at it's most sohpisticated level".

Now that is fundamentals, baby!!! That doesn't hold as much ground with me as a shout out from Bobby Knight, but it's pretty damn good.

Feel free to dig whatever you like out of The Jordan Rules. Did Jerry Krause or Stacy King get his feelings hurt? None of it is as damning as Phil Jackson on Kobe on-the-record in The Last Season. That one left a mark!

Nba.com and yahoo were making such a huge deal out of Kobe's game winner last week I had to see it.

Expecting to see him make a turn-around with 4 hands in his face from 33 feet away at the buzzer, I was once again disappointed.

All I see is Kobe shoving his defender, COMPLETELY getting away with an offensive foul and making a wide open routine 3.

If this was just about anyone else no one cares but just because it's Kobe Bryant people act like it's the greatest shot ever made.

AND WHAT IS THAT ANNOUNCER TALKING ABOUT!? Setting a screen? He almost shoved him out of bounds. Are you freakin kidding me?

"What is Rodriguez doing?"

Uh...he's busy getting fouled by Kobe Bryant and trying to run back on defense because there wasn't a foul called.

This kind of partiality makes me want to put my head through the wall.

Let me ask you this.

If the Kings have the ball and that King shoves Kobe like that with 3 seconds left in a close game do you agree or disagree that an offensive foul will be called?

If the roles were reversed the whistles would have been blowing before that guy even would have thought to shoot the ball for the win. It would have been Lakers ball. Either way, Kobe's going to have a chance to win the game.

Nothing upsets me more than subjectivity and different rules for different players.

Yeah, people's feelings were hurt...Krause, Jordan...a lot of people were affected by that book...ask Sam Smith...why do you think Johnny Bach got fired?

That book left a mark on who? Phil is coaching Kobe now...and wanted to...have no idea what you are talking about...

I didn't bring up any rappers...someone else did...I made a point about the video nullifying his being a rapper and Jordan not caring who he was, he would have treated him the same way.

Aren't you the guy standing in the corner alone with the Wilt is better than MJ stuff? Seriously?

Then you want to talk about a no call concerning Kobe as if Jordan didn't get any no calls? C'mon Man!

Nothing upsets me more than subjectivity and different rules for different players.

You think this stuff just started with Kobe? You can't be serious....

Why do you think Johnny Bach got fired? It has nothing to do with Jordan. Man, you are really stretching...

You're absolutely right, Frank. Fouls should be called on everyone, even Kobe Bryant.

Sincerely,

I think you people understand perfectly where I am coming from...you just don't want to acknowledge that. So I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are just pretending to not comprehend...

I said Bach got fired because of the book...Krause thought Bach was Sam Smith's source in the book so he fired him...he found out later it was Phil Jackson.

Going and get a tyrant's tall tales about Jordan is stretching it to me...

And this makes Jordan look bad? How? Or are you starting a new thread?

Did anyone notice one of Kobe's feet was out of bounds just before hitting the Sacramento game-winner (in addition to getting away with the offensive foul). Clearly in this instance the rules were for everyone but Kobe.

When it's Steve Blake, you've got to call that foul. When Kobe has the ball we have to swallow the whistle for some reason.

Makes me want to stop watching the NBA altogether.
