While the Bears blew it with the Mitch pick, hall of fame QB John Elway has been even worse filling that position of need, lol. Odds are he'll whiff again.
The difference is the Broncos haven't had the opportunity to invest a premium pick at the position. Elway has also stepped down from G.M duties. They hired George Paton. Who was on the bears staff back in the day. Then went to work with Rick Speilman.

Couldn’t this be considered tampering? He had to have still been officially a Bear when this contract was being negotiated.
Bears cut him days ago publicly then tried to trade him when they realized he actually had value. Maybe if this wasn't so thoroughly bungled but no way does this result in a tampering investigation.

The Bears didn’t officially cut him until 3:30 or some shit today. A half hour later he’s signed with another team. Rules are rules even if Pace bungled the **** out of it.

What kind of payout was dickboy asking him to take....then offer a WR 11 to 12 mil? Again **** Pace

He was probably asking him to restructure, get guaranteed money up front and spread the cap hit through multiple years.

Im assuming by the time Pace decided to go after Golladay he was already decided in trading/moving on from Fuller. We have to eat 9 mil either way. Might as well use the 11 mil saved to focus on adding pieces to the offense. Too bad because now we get no Golladay and no Fuller...at least we got Andy Dalton though!

oh that's a good resume to have. Grab a guy from a franchise that has the worst luck at qb, /impressed. They are all but guaranteed to succeed now!

another former Bear and then there is Ballard.
could it possibly be a management hiring problem?
Yeah Speilman and Paton worked together in chicago and when Rick went to Miami Paton followed. Ballard was the next Generation. Bears haven't had any shortage of great scouts move on to do bigger things.

Paton and Speilman drafted 22 probowl players together. Those guys can draft thier asses off. We'll see what happens. There are no guarantees at the quarterback position regardless of who's drafting.

I was hoping / dreaming Pace would get shit canned and they'd hire Paton..

I honestly can’t think of a worst place to go as a cb looking for a new contract than to face Mahomes, carr, and Herbert 6 times. That said if he succeeds he will get big money I’d guess.

Translation - he might get a couple of picks but he'll get picked apart with his 10yd cushions on 3rd & 5

I think Denver is going to have a good defense this year with Miller back.

And the Vikings, with Paton, were always aggressive in their search for a QB. Big FA signings (Cousins, Favre), trades (Bradford) and draft (Ponder/Jackson). My Denver tea leaves tell me Paton is going to stand pat with Lock one more year and go all-in next year. Denver gave him a 7 year deal and I believe part of the reason the length was so long was because Elway didn't want Paton to give up on his final draft pick in Lock too early.

Damn what a move by Denver! Awesome move. Pace is the worst GM in the league by far.

Too bad Denver fucked up 1000x worse and let Shaq Barrett walk for no compensation in 2018, oooops. It wasn't about money either. Bucs signed him for 1 year, 4 million as an unrestricted free agent but made him an all downs player, something the Broncos failed to do.

Its amazing that he blew wasted picks on 2 shitty QB's and was still able to succeed

I'm good with **** pace but this side of the business is $ and not loyalty. Remember that Fuller almost became a Packer. had that WR taken the deal, Pace may have pulled the tag on AR and actually save a few more bucks. There a reason that AR signed the thing on the next day.

This is exactly why companies walk out employees in key roles or in positions to undermine or sabotage an enterprise when they give their two weeks notice: never, ever, let a lame duck that is desperate have decision-making powers. I try to be optimistic, but when we sign/trade for two backup QBs (Dalton and Foles) and let go of true, homegrown and drafted talent (like Fuller), it makes it hard.

It really feels like Pace is just giving the organization the finger on the way out; tossing the match and letting this mfer burn.
