My favorite teams
but we are weak at RG
But better at RT.
but we are weak at RG
Your reply doesn't even make sense. I was just pointing out that most people who were sceptical of moving him to tackle knew he played it in college and sucked at it. Most of you who were jerking off over moving Long to Tackle were the same ones who hated us picking Long but LOVED Bostic...
But you are welcome.
Sincerely Uncle Phil ...
yes he sure did dominate Houston todayBut better at RT.
The people in favor of him moving to T knew that he had the size, strength, and athleticism to do it, and also knew that Emery even said that his future could be at tackle. The only knock was inexperience, but he had all the measurables for a tackle. And I don't know about your second statement about Bostic, but it's a non-sequitur, so whatever.
You are speaking to some one who is 100%, at least on these forums...Well if there is anyone out there who has a 100 percent track record of predicting who will pan out and who won't in the NFL then they would be the all-time-best General Manager in the NFL. People make predictions about games, players, teams and sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong. I guess as long as that happens there will be folks who show up to point out the mistakes. Congratulations, I guess.
Whatever people predicted about Long, I'm excited about his future.
B.S...
Long hasn't shown that he could play Tackle until he finally got in there and started playing the position. The only similarities between the two positions are they are both on the offensive line. The only people who would have known if he could were the coaches who actually got to see him play it in practice. So sitting here saying he has the " measurable " is complete B.S. All any of us, who were not guessing, had to judge Long at the Tackle position was his time playing it in college... And he was a terrible back up LT.

Shout out to those who said you can't just move Long to OT and that you would be weakening 2 spots.

Yes, we were all guessing about Long's future prospects at tackle. But what I'm saying is that if you just look at his measurables, i.e., his size, strength, athleticism, then you can make an educated guess about his viability at tackle. You don't need to look at the extremely small sample size of his college games at tackle to make a prediction about his NFL future at tackle. Also, Emery himself said on draft day that he had a future at tackle.
So basically, you are just pissed that you was wrong about Long and are now realizing that you are not as football smart as you thought you was. Got it.
I wasn't wrong about Long because I never really took a side. I was of the opinion that if it isn't broke don't fix it but I was never against long moving to either tackle position if he proved he could play it... And who knows, maybe he did prove it to Fox.

I actually agree with you for the most part but you also don't want to ignore what he did in college either. That's all any of us really had to evaluate him and the move to RT.
As for his measurables... You could say that about almost every one on the offensive line. They are all big , fast, strong and athletic. They all have the measurables to be a tackle but only a handful of offensive line men can play tackle. That's why they get the big contracts. It's a much harder position to play and is really very different from a guard.
