Hey guys, I know we have some members that are pretty computer savvy and I'm hoping for your help here. My windows explorer was running like shit lately and a guy at work told me to try downloading google chrome and see if it works better. So today I downloaded it and while it was installing my laptop battery died. Once I plugged it back in, I got the typical dead battery screen. However, it now doesn't open up windows at all, I get to the blue login screen but no login box appears, only a blue screen?! I've rebooted it a bunch of times using all the options they give me, but it all goes back to this godamn blue screen.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Get a Mac and get away from the hell that is Microsoft. I spend too much time on the bullshit MS OS and virtually zero time on the fabulous Apple OS

Do you have the installation disk? I would use that to reinstall whichever version of Windows you have.

I actually do have an iPad and pretty much use it exclusively, but my wife took it today because I was supposed to fix her laptop, lol.

It helps if you give what version of Windows, and what model of laptop.

Are you able to enter safe-mode?

It goes "starting windows", then "loading files" and then to the "Microsoft windows" screen with progress bar. But it just never starts and goes straight the blue screen.

No, it gives me the option to "launch start up repair" or "start windows normally", both get me to that blue screen.

I think I'm going to have to bring it in to the computer doctor.

Those are your only options when pressing F8 while booting?

LOLZ, Bad boot sector buh-by.You will probably need to boot up into windows from another drive and then you can repair the boot sector. That's shitty news mang. Also, Apple products and Macs suck balls.

That's not necessarily true. I've seen this happen with HP laptops before. Sometimes just removing and replacing the battery a few times will do the trick, or if he can get to the advanced boot menu, last known good config is worth a shot.

Even if he can get into safe mode, it sounds like he needs to run either a hardware diagnostic, or a few malware scans.

RTB,

you gotta hit the F8 key thru the boot process to see the safe mode options.
