Ifedi is a stop-gap serviceable RT. Of course they'll expect young guys to compete.

Reading this and the LT-Jenkins thread is like a bunch of scared Nancies. It's not really possible for the OL to get much worse. Leno is addition by subtraction. Anybody who doesn't get that is beyond rational discussion.

And people need to research up on the new guys. Jenkins was slotted to be LT last season but their RT got hurt. He's practiced LT all off-season. Jenkins should be fine & > Leno at worst.

Borum has a few things to work on, but has the raw talent, drive, maturity, and mean side - which is more than we can say for the last few years in CHI. While any level of trust for player development by these coaches is yet to be reinforced, they've not been give the talent at OL either (or QB) 'til now.

No, he said he practiced all positions his last year to prepare for NFL. And coach let him play some LT snaps.

He's a RT. He's built like a RT. He plays like a RT. And until last year he never even imagined different.
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit. One "bullshit" for every game he started as a LT ... in 2018.

For Jenkins, the next logical progression was to start in 2018. The talented offensive lineman started ten games at right tackle and three games at left tackle, filling in for an injured starter on the left side.

I'd love it if Jenkins can play LT. I have no doubt by week 4 he is undoubtedly the best option we have, I just think he's a RT and I like Ifedi at RG.

Maybe Borom will be a nice addition for goal line and 6 lineman sets to begin things, would be ecstatic if it turns out he is competing anywhere on the right side.

Same here.

I know that any draft pick is never a sure thing. Seeing that the 1st round draft picks are no better than the flip of a coin of being successful (even the top 5 picks who are supposed to be a sure thing). At least the Bears took two chances of improving their offensive line this year. Hopefully, at least one is successful.

I feel like Jenkins floor at RT is very high. He deserved a 1st round grade and there were a couple stand out LTs that dropped further than you would expect as well.

I thought Jenkins skills were a bit gimmickee and he dominated college with a combination of skill and power, but he will have pass protection learning curve in NFL. (They aren't going to fall for the happy hand flash or need to avoid his strength).

I would much prefer breaking him in where he can excel and stay and perfect his duties at RT in the near and long term. That seems like common sense to me but God bless the bears. I hope it works out.

The job at LT is very hard and few have the body and skills to even do it with time and experience. I would worry about any rookie thrown into that meat grinder.

Do right tackles not pass block? If Jenkins skills were "gimmicky" then how did he deserve a 1st round grade?

Total domination mean road grader with size, length, and strength made his gimmicky pass block skills more than sufficient for 95% of ends in college.

He's a top tier RT in my book, should be drafted 20-40 and I'd have been happy with the pick at 20 in first in our situation.
