Wouldn't surprise me if they traded Skille. For that matter add Brouwer, Pisani, Stalberg to the list of forwards I wouldn't be surprised to see traded. We definately need another 5/6th D man. Cullimore/Boynton/Hendry just aren't cutting it. Trading Brouwer or Stalberg gives them more room to work with cap wise.

Then trade them for a real defenseman. I never realized how much I'd miss Sopel.

Interesting, bri. That might explain why Skille was out of the lineup Saturday. But I shudder at the notion of John Scott as a full-time forward. Maybe they'll bring Morin up or something?

Skille and Stalberg were the last on the ice so one of them is scratched. Everyone else is in.

Turco in net.

No way do they trade Brouwer. He's a steal at that price and also another physical body. Something we are lacking right now.

oh and Leddy is not back. So the Cap Space theory, IE Skille last year, is out.

I don't know about that. Of course I'm just making speculative guesses. But reasons I consider him trade bait in no particular order;

1) His $1 million and change cap hit gives them more room to acquire a solid 5th/6th defenseman.

2) He's on an expiring contract (RFA)) and I beleive (but could be wrong) arbitration eligible.

3) He's going to want a raise next season and there's a bit of a cap crunch still with Seabrook needing to be re-signed

4) He's had a slow start.

When Campbell returns (starts skating thursday) there is no need for a 5th-6th man.

Correct.

There is a 4.4 million dollar penalty due to Toews-Kane Bonus. There is plenty of money for both Seabrook and Brouwer if they chose.

4) He's had a slow start.

He's been on the 3rd and 4th line with minimum minutes what do you expect?[/quote]

Q and the braintrust obviously thinks that Scott, Boynton and Cullimore are good enough.

I don't think the cap room next year will stretch as far as we want it.

Notable RFAs- Seabrook, Skille, Crawford, Brouwer, Dowell, Stalberg.

Notable UFas- Turco, Kopecky.

They've made shrewd unpopular trades in the past that worked out well.

Really can't get my head around this move at all. When I read about it I thought of the cap straight away and assumed he would be back up on game day but obviously not from what Ron said. This team is in serious trouble if the D has Cullimore and Scott there over some way better talent down in Rockford.

That someone is notorious for starting rumors with no basis. That is also why I called them out....worse because they still believe that the 'Hawks get "free" money over the cap with Campbell on IR, and fails to realize the team needs to get under the cap once Campbell is healthy.

Other than cap, perhaps this is a way to control the number of games he plays this season. Looking at upcoming opponents, maybe someone like Cullimore would be better to take physical play over a prospect like Leddy.

Isn't there something about if Leddy plays no more than 10 games this season he will still be under contract next season...Leo mentioned something about that along with another buddy of mine.

I don't think it will ever but that said Seabrook and Brouwer will be on the re up list. No way do they trade him.

I didn't say it was true. Only that he speculated that. There are always rumors and speculations. Just putting it out there to see what people on here thought. Not trying to cause trouble.

I understand the kid keeps getting better in most everyone's eyes. And I realize we are seiously hurting in the back end right now.....insert joke there as necessary. But I have no problem with this move. He's still a19 yr old kid that needs some time at the A in my opinion.

Keith spent two years in Norfolk. Seabrook one. There are very few D men that will not see time in the minors. It's the hardest position in hockey.

Trouble maker. Bringing rumors from the officials. Bad Bri!
