well considering the source over there Bri any idiot can speculate.

He probably read Sassones twitter----

"Leddy was just OK, needs to play a lot in AHL, plus had a $1.11 million cap hit - maybe Hawks are looking to acquire a d-man. #blackhawks"

Which would allow them to send Cullimore back where he came from.

I've got a better one...feel free to shoot the messenger, but I had to see if anyone can cooberate this nugget...

According to a poster on Sassone's blog (in the Leddy to Rockford announcement), Kim Johnsson would not participate in any 'rehab' for his issues last year and then got involved with another player's significant other which is a big reason why they never considered bringing him back.

Again, don't shoot the messenger as this will probably turn out to be unsubstantiated rumors from a deluded poster, but I had to share it here if for nothing else than the hilarity factor. So, is it true?

old rumor. Kim fell off the bike during his "test" and was sent home. I never heard any thing of players GF's or wives. The rumor I heard was a wife and only four players on the entire team were married and NONE of their wives would have gone that route IMO.

Just like the other day where the rumors on Kane were flying as to why he missed the game. I can 100% confirm he had the flu. None the less the rumors people make up are pretty funny, I agree.

Johnnson was so bad he may never play again. So that poster should know he's still NOT playing in the NHL. Mind is mush.

Sad to hear. I read a story about him in the off-season and he was back in Sweden saying he doesn't really care about making it back to the NHL -- he just wants to get healthy again.

I heard that rumor last season and thought it was just as utterly ridiculous then as I do now. Unfortunately, anybody can start rumors nowadays with a few strikes on a computer keyboard -- without any repercussions whatsoever.
I understand the kid keeps getting better in most everyone's eyes. And I realize we are seiously hurting in the back end right now.....insert joke there as necessary. But I have no problem with this move. He's still a19 yr old kid that needs some time at the A in my opinion.
I really don't have a problem with them moving Leddy to Rockford -- he definitely needs the work. But the bottom three guys we have left are damned scary. I would have preferred to have Leddy stay around for a couple more games to bridge the gap until Campbell returns, I guess.

My thoughts on Leddy are well documented. Great long-term prospect, but I didn't think he was ready for the NHL. I saw no assertiveness to his game.

Just because a player isn't making obvious mistakes should not be confused with playing well. I didn't see any decisiveness to his skating and he needs to add some size and physicality to his game. He will never be a hitter, but he seems overmatched in one on one puck battles to me.

He could be another Keith or Housley in time, but I didn't see flashes of that potential yet.

Now, do I think Cullimore or Scott or Boynton are better? Not really. I think we have some issues there even when Campbell comes back. However, I think Leddy could use some time in Rockford where a bad game or two won't crush his confidence like it might at the NHL level.

I could definitely see a trade in the works here. The Hawks braintrust are seeing what happens if you get an injury or a suspension to any one of the big four and they don't want to burn these guys out come April.

I think it may also be the case that the Hawks' brass think a stretch of Blues-Canucks-Blues might be a bit much for Leddy at this point. I wouldn't necessarily disagree.

The whole thing I find funny about the Johnnson rumor is that if it were true, and with his skillset, why would have no one signed him.... Never bought into the rumor as Johnnson has had several big concussions in his career and really does not take much for him to relapse etc. And how long was Mitchell out? Concussions are a big deal.

Some people just hear stupid shit said in just on the radio or speculate and like to continuously spread it as truth.

I am just happy that Kane's mom was in town to give him some chicken soup on Friday so he was better for Saturday to make that nice pass to Sharp.

When Campbell returns you are missing one defenseman out of our entire 7 last year. Where do you see issues?

Seabrook-Keith

Campbell-Hjarlmarsson

Boynton/Hendry

So missing Sopel gives us issues? If we have issues and Sopel is the only change we are fucked.

As for Leddy, he needs 20 minutes a night. He won't get that here.

Scotty Bowman compared him to Mario Lemuix on the PP. As it's QB.

The suggestion comes from Scotty Bowman, not me.

To answer your question Ron, yes, I think Boynton for a full season gives us issues. I hate to say this, but Sopel was a far smarter player and every bit as good at the other facets of the game as Boynton is.

What I meant by issues even when Campbell comes back is that rarely will all 6 guys be in the lineup simultaneously. If Boynton or Hendry needs to move into a top 4 role, then we are fucked.

Anyway, Phil Housley never won the Norris trophy, so wouldn't the comparison to Keith be more complimentary than the one to Housley?

I don't agree that Leddy needs to be playing in the AHL and needs his 20 minutes of ice time per game. What he needs is not to be paired with Culli at the NHL level. Big mistake by the Hawks if you ask me if this is anything more than Cap related.

Whaler I don't disagree with you much but I can't help but to on this one. I know I am not the only one that has seen how composed Leddy has been for a ROOKIE defenseman. And lets stress this again..HE HAS BEEN PLAYING WITH CULLI AS HIS PAIRING PARTNER..not an easy task even for a Norris winner. Looks better than Hedman did his rookie campaign so far if you ask me and that says something. I again also disagree that Leddy's confidence will be shot if he plays poorly at the NHL level (which he has not). Don't but into that theory and there is nothing in Leddy's character thus far that says he isn't head strong enough to handle it. So if he plays like shit at the AHL level (which could happen) wouldn't that actually be the confidence killer. All reports from annylists etc is that Leddy has had a strong start to the season and has looked good. Sigh.

Crying shame we aren't going to see what Leddy is capable of doing with a half ass decent pairing partner if he isn't recalled when Campbell gets back. Enjoy your Culli experience because if anyone needs to be playing on the farm it's him.

And Whaler I know you are just thinking about the future with Leddy and you don't dislike him. That's all fair and good.

Leddy looked ok for the time he was up. He made a lot of mistakes but he's 19 and a d man. I'm sure part of it was cap related, but I'm not unhappy about seeing him chew up a lot of minutes and PP/PK time down in Rockford.
