Myself and Crystallas are car guys at different ends of the spectrum....i know the statistics on every single make model out there, I have car prices that change with the market daily in my head, crystallas can tear them apart and rebuild them....so not to toot our own horns but we have a pretty good grasp on cars.

I think some of you get sold on marketing campaigns like most of the country....status symbols...if they price a car high as **** and push it down the throats of the public, people will be sold on the car being the greatest thing.

Wait, there is a car spectrum? :)

I have owned a car from every major make. But yeah, I did go through a change in the last 6 years. I definitely like small and efficient motors better now. I'm more inclined to buy/build a 4banger with a clutch pedal and manual transmission now. But that doesn't mean I'm so critical of what I like, that I would deny someone the opportunity to buy something they truly want. I have had my share of muscle cars, and a few project 10ish second 1/4milers(which I don't miss, because I'm too tall, and hate wearing a helmet, occasionally hitting it against the antiroll-bars at 3-6gforces, and spending 3 hours pulling/putting the interior in, just to drive it down a strip 4-5 times.) :p

I am in the market for a car right now and am trying to decide on the Audi A3 TDI or the VW Sportwagon TDI. The VW has a bit more room in the back but the Audi interior is fucking beautiful but the price tag is a few grand more. Anyone driving a TDI?

Nope. Just really high quality cars, but the downside of owning a German car is maintaining them when the warranty runs out but it's worth it if you got the cash IMO.

You're not looking far enough into cars if you think German cars are all about marketing and gimmicks. I'm going to preface this by saying I'm the biggest Mercedes homer on this board. I've worked on them exclusively for over 12 years. The reason German cars are so expensive is because of the stuff you can't see. They are engineered to protect passengers at all costs. You need that kind of safety when driving on the autobahn. All the rest of the stuff in a German car is put there to justify a high price tag for keeping people safe. I also hear people talk shit about Mercedes not having the latest audio technology. Mercedes makes great cars, not great stereos. If you want a cool stock stereo buy a Nissan, just don't be surprised of your brakes fail or the car crumples like a beer can if you hit a get in a fender bender.

Shit. OP, it doesn't matter what car you buy as long as you keep all of the maintenance up to date. No car will last a long time if you constantly go 9000 miles over a scheduled service.

People dont understand what goes into German cars. An Audi R8 is handmade and the number of people that handle and inspect the car is off the charts. It then goes through a CT Scan to check for the most minor imperfections then they drives it at top speed for 50 miles on the Autobahn. The quality is off the charts. This is the result

Exactly. All Audi's look the same.

Get creative. I know every company likes to have a signature look, but damn, EVERY car carrying the same design? :smh:

The R8 is an extreme case, but it's still a badass car. It's not that that car goes through a CT scan before it leaves the factory, it's what goes into every German car before they leave their respective factories.

Wrong. Angst and an unfounded sense of intellectual superiority.

I'm German.

For the record, I'm not attacking the cars. I'm attacking the fanboy mentality. lulz-fest.

I'm obviously not going to change your mind, and that's not what my intention was any way. I've read you're good at taking cars apart, and that you drag race. Cool. Let me guess, it's an '87 camaro?

Nope. I stopped drag racing in 99. Not a Mustang either, although I have had both a Mustang and Camaro at some point. Both were bought to flip.

I also had a Merc too. If you read that post, you saw, I had all major makes at some point. I have no beef with any of them, just fanboys.
