My cousin Connie has a 69 Yenko 427... when I say cousin he's 70 years old now...
Single owner... bought it new... My Dad and some others told him he was CRAZY to pay over 6K for a car when he bought it... I guess new cars were about 2.5K then...

Who's laughing now...

His only regret is he didn't get AC... I guess it would be worth more... he did get the Heads upgrade... Ls or Lt somthing like that which he said is worth more.

The car is Cherry... like new... one owner... he said he would sell it someday but my Dad says' he will be buried in it...

Most dependable cars I've owned are a old school Rabbit GTI, and second Gen Mazda RX7 convertible, Toyota Tacoma, and Honda Odysee..
All very nice... had a Caddy STS I loved as well... don't know where they get the bad rep cause that car was care free, flawless, insane power, fantastic highway car... really nice sounding Bose system, and I got one with 50K miles on it for 14K that sold new for 57K. In AZ they are a dime a dozen... the old buy a new one, trade in the old one, I buy the old one that still looks like a new one... they don't drive them hard except to IHOP on Sundays.

they don't drive them hard except to IHOP on Sundays.>>>

Wow, there's a lot to react to since I last checked. First off, I'm waving an olive branch of peace. I inadvertently started a fight, sorry. I am a Benz fan, but I'm stopping short of homer or fanboy or whatever else. I understand every make of car has its positives and negatives. There's a 7 or 8 year period just in the recent past where Mercedes was shipping some absolute garbage to its dealerships. But to me that doesn't detract from the overall picture of the brand. I do still have a problem with someone buying a Benz and then totally shitting on the company for a high repair bill. I'm not just talking about people on these boards either. I see it all the time and it annoys the **** out of me. *start of small rant* When you buy a used Benz, you're buying a pretty expensive car. Just because you bought it for $500 at an auction doesn't mean it's a cheap car. You still bought a Benz, they aren't cheap to own. *end of rant*

Chrys & Carwar, sorry if you think I'm taking this out of context or not seeing it the same way as you. I do agree with almost everything you're saying. All the stuff about cheap cars & 4 cyl econoboxes is totally true. I had a Ford escort GT in high school and loved it. It was one of the funniest cars I've owned. I'm also sure there are plenty of good deals to be had at an auction. But every Benz, and I seriously mean every one, that has come to our shop from an auction has been a rolling death trap. Mostly because they were the Benz models that one shouldn't buy, ever.

Ok, can we talk about something else now? How does everyone feel about Porsche?

Edit: motherfucker, why do I always think of something better to say 15 minutes after I post something. Okay, I don't exactly have a problem with someone being mad about a high Benz repair bill. I have a problem with it being the only reason. This is what I took from the above conversation: "You know, I liked the car a lot. The inside was nice, materials and fit & finish and all that. It had great power and was a really smooth ride. And it looked really sharp. But it's a piece of shit because it costs more that a cavalier I had in high school"

I know that's not what really happened, it's just for conversations sake. And this could be the case for anyone talking about any car also.

The CTS-V's I think are right around 550HP. With a 6 speed manual transmission. In a fucking Cadillac. For about 60 grand. Lol. How anyone call call that "overpriced" when looking at comparables, I have no idea.

They are. Reliability sucks and they look like ass after a few years.

I don't get why people think they need AWD. Its nice and all, but who wants to maintain that shit? And imo, its totally unnecessary in the age of FWD cars.

FWD cars = :puke:

Based on the feedback I've heard from several owners, this simply hasn't been the case at all with their vehicles. Further, the CTS-Vs haven't exactly been around a long time, so it's tough to say with any certainty what the long term looks like with them. But you are entitled to your opinion.

Beautiful cars! Have you seen the new 911? The cockpit of the Panamera is just amazing.

I'm not gonna go that far. A civic si or focus rs is a pretty badass car. In fact, the last generation of focus rs beat a ford gt around fords test track

I'm not a huge fan of the panamera. It looks too goofy from the rear door back. I do agree with the new 911, it's a pretty sweet car

The new Civic Si isn't really a badass car but Honda haven't been making really good cars like they used for a while, I like the new Ford Focus ST I think it's a better cars than the Volkswagen GTI. The Panamera might look goofy from the back but in the inside it's like if you are in a private jet.

Yeah the reliability has probably improved over the last 5 years. I just don't think their vehicles age nicely in terms of looks. Maybe it's the sharp edges?

What do you guys think of Tesla cars?

I think the sharp edges are one of those "love it or hate it" kinds of things. I dig the Teslas.

I applaud Tesla's cars and their advancements in the last few years. Would I buy one? No, even though they look great IMO. I'm waiting on the next real innovation in electric cars to bring the price down or the range up even more than the new S.

Tesla have a bright future ahead of them, hopefully their cars will be in the $30-40K price range by the end of the decade when the price of lithium-ion batteries get sliced in half.

You can buy stock in Tesla Motors. I bought 50 shares when the stock was at $17 and sold at $28 a few years ago. So I know for sure you can buy the stock, even sub-minimum buy-ins.

I'm really curious what Tesla is going to do in the coming decade. I really hope they do well and continue to grow. I heard somewhere that most of they're money is being invested in battery R&D. That way they can use all of the latest technology in their cars and sell the rights to some of their other technology to different manufacturers. I think it's awesome that a totally electric sports car is just as fast around a racetrack as a Lotus Elise, one of the best sports cars on the market
