Since I really get angry at talking about the current sox, lets talk about 2013 and the roster and what moves can be made here.

who I want gone: peavy, thornton, Rios

who I want in the rotation: sale, danks,(FA or trade), floyd, santiago

I dont know who we could get in the SP market but it would be nice to get some help.

i know rios is zomfgzzzz awesome but we all know how this story ends with him, you can actually trade him now! and get salary relief!

Def trade Rios when value is high. Never know when another 2011 will come up.
Let Peavy walk, love the guy an his attitude, but he cannot win the big game.
Bring back Youk, Meyers, and AJ if possible.
Bring in a solid arm to replace peavy in the rotation.

I dont feel like the season is over for them. They can still win the division. But I like your list there. Peavy and Rios are dead wieght.

They would need a new OF'er if they dump Rios. Swisher anyone?

With Ozzie gone Swisher could probably thrive here.

Good OBP, switch hitting power hitter. 100+ OPS.

Who would give him that though? Texas? Anaheim? Detroit?

I agree about trading Rios now while he has value. Also I'd like to see AJ brought back if the price is right, however I could see him getting a big contract elsewhere since he is one of the better catchers who will be a free agent this offseason. I also like the idea of signing Swisher but not at $100 mil.

By the time the 2012 regular season is over, you'll still be watching the 2012 team.

I don't see how wanting to trade a guy when his value is high when he is known to go through extreme ups and downs in his career is hating.

No, you & Dews have been known to hate the guy yet make excuses for the whiff king in Dunn.

Rios has been great this year. Unfortunately he's been really inconsistent, so with his production this year and his value as high as it's been since he came to Chicago, it makes sense to shop him to shed salary and hopefully get a good return for the future.

As for Dunn, his .OBP and HR power are two very valuable assets that he possesses. The Ks are overlooked because he can get on base with his BB rate and produce via the long ball.

Look, man, I've given Rios his due for the year. But even this season he's not worth the contract, and he's had a lot of poor seasons. Its only logical to move him when his value is high. This isn't rocket science.

If they move Rios, they'll have cash to get a hitter whom can probably put up the same line......

There isn't much to look forward too in 2013. Paulie, Dunn, AJ, Thornton, Youk, are all old. Crain & Alexei are 31 and will be on the wrong side of their careers next year. The Sox can't rely on them anymore (especailly the older guys) to be the heart of the team. Youk likely won't be traded and the Sox blow donkey balls at the 3B position beyond Youk. There's dick in the farm system, so there's nothing to look forward to there either.

IMO, this year is the last year for a long while that these guys get a shot at a WS.

Hopefully Hahn can work some magic in the off season; some really, really awesome magic. Like Harry Potter meets Houdini magic. Because that's what it is going to take to have a contending team in the next few years.
