I think they laid a good foundation for next year. Sale and Quintana can go longer into the season next year and Danks is coming back. Young arms in the pen are another year older, and more experienced. Pitching is the one thing I am not too worried about for next year barring that they can bring in another solid starter and another good arm for the pen.

Hitting on the other hand....need guys to get on base in front of the sluggers and hope Konerko can not be shit again like he was post May.

I agree with Sale/Quintana and some of the young arms in the bullpen. But Danks is crap and untradeable with his contract.... And we have no offense. Konerko is done.

Alex Rios is our best hitter.

Let that settle in. Alex Rios is our best hitter. I don't think any team with Rios as their best hitter is going to be in the playoffs anytime soon.

I'm not disputing your lineup... It is very plausible, but that team isn't going to win shit. Sad.

How is Danks crap? Because he was a losing record? (please don't be the actual case)

Rios is our best hitter this year. He's inconsistant. I would love for Rios to have a chain of 2012 seasons, but he's so wishy washy, no idea what he'll be like next season.

Youk back would be cool. But, he's probably going to want money we cant offer.

you know he wont argue back he will just keep spewing random shit just like brett. I dont agree all the time with gunzaan but atleast he debates instead of these random ass posts that users make and than never back it up....oh and than dislike rep you when you use the lords name is vein or win the debate.

I honestly appreciate the respect in that regard. There is a huge difference in having an opinion, however Special person it is *cough joecawks cough*, and being able to discuss/debate it further beyond 1 or 2 posts.

Danks ERA+ has gone from 124, 115, 100, 76. I wouldn't go so far to say he is crap, but he hasn't been a well above average pitcher for a couple of years now.

The decline is a bit worrysome, but that 76 is from this year being injured most the year. And last year he had a high BABIP (.313) not the only reason for his struggles, but it played a role.

How is Danks crap? I know wins/losses isn't a great way to judge a pitcher, but his era was 4.33 last year and 5.70 in 9 starts this year after signing a big deal. He has never impressed me, the same as Floyd.

You can certainly make a case for improvement down the road, but there is reason for concern beyond won-loss record.

ERA isn't a great stat either. The high BABIP raised his ERA last season, he was injured for who knows how long this year before he told anyone.

and a .340 OBP, leads the league with walks, 117 OPS+, and a wRC+ of 118.

But, hey, he blows, right?

OBP's at .337 for the Big Ass right now and considering he's drawn over 100 walks and hit over 40 HR's that's pretty low (and lame IMO). However, I'm all for trading Rios high at this point, especially to restock the farm system (SS, 2B, 3B really need an upgrade unless Jewkilis comes back at a discount).

So a guy who hasn't produced, coming off an injury, is supposed to inspire hope for next year? I wish I had your confidence :)

He's had almsot a whole season to recover, and bad luck did him in 2011.

Its not like I'm hoping just for hopes sake.

People are in a hurry to sell high on Rios then if the Sox get shit in return then people will be bitching.

Please.

Getting that contract off the books is the big accomplishment if we sold high. Anything more than that is gravy.

What was the deal with claiming that contract in the first place?

It was to block him from going to the Tigers. The Jays were more than happy to be rid of his contract.
