Gotta wonder what that contract looks like. With two days to go and other teams are walking away from the table. Going to have to wait two days, but I wonder if it resembles the Peppers contract from 4 years ago.

Yeah, that worries me too considering the many spots on the d that need to be fixed. When Peppers was signed to that deal, everyone was already here. This is different. I hope it's not that type of contract. But this would be a great start to free agency....

Always take this stuff with a grain of salt. I'm not saying that it won't happen, just that you should temper your expectations a bit.

this, crazy Rumors will be flying tomorrow, love to land Bennett but lets hold off.

As free agency nears, expect a lot more rumors tomorrow. Seems like there has been a lot more news this time around during the window than last year.

Could be a ploy to drive up his price tag.

Yeah I think he's coming. Would be pretty huge in rebuilding that D-Line. Would like Wooton back, I think he can start opposite of Bennett. Maybe add a 3rd rotational DE in free agency and then draft a 4th DE in round 3 or 4 or something. Bring back Bass too and that position is filled. Would like Melton and Collins back too, but not sure how the money works.

Collins just got signed to a one year deal.

Emery is proving an absolute FA/non-draft offseason beast. Still need a 2nd tier DT and S, and a lower level CB and perhaps WR.

Not exactly a good thing. He needs to become a draft beast for the Bears to maintain any type of sustained success.

Well if Bennett is ours, I'm hoping we sign Lamar Houston and plug him in at DT, if we plan to draft an DE, or leave him outside. The guy is listed as an DE but he can also play DT, which may be his best position, cut Peppers, and convert some of Jays salary next yr to a signing bonus. That should give us the cash needed, with more to spare. I'd then sign Kendrick Lewis to play FS. Trade Briggs to Tampa for a 3rd or 4th. We could move Bostic to that spot, a better position for him anyway. With these three signings, plus the returning Ratliff, and a defensive heavy draft and we should be not only younger, but stronger on that side of the ball. Hopefully there will be enough talent to overcome our DC's obvious lack of coaching skill.

Bennett will help the pass rush, as would Houston. If we sign both and play Houston as an End, imagine in the nickel, we could move both Bennett and Houston inside, with Shea and either Washington or a rookie at the Ends. That should be a pretty good pass rush in the nickel. If we sign Houston as well, he's very versatile, enough to give us some flexibility in the draft. Lewis is a pretty underrated FS, but a clear upgrade over Conte. We could draft another SS somewhere in the first three rounds, Buchanen could be a nice option. I am very excited this time of year, anticipating who the bears are going to bring in. I can't wait for us to bring in the talent to rebuild our usually strong defense, to combine with a newly explosive offense, If we do this properly, I see multiple championships coming home to chicago these next couple of seasons.

He doesn't have to not be a FA beast to be a draft beast. It's good to know he doesn't have his blinders on and addresses glaring issues with swift, aggressive moves with intent to fix them. The way our D is we would be SCREWED if he couldn't bring in FAs.

I don't think Bennett is a 6 year contract type of player.
