I'm still holding out on a sliver of hope that the Bears get Bennett and then convince Pep to restructure or take a cut or whatever and have em both.

It is possible.

I think if Jared Allen gets a 5 mil a year deal that Pep will be more willing to take 5 million from us, which makes his cap hit 9 million the same if we cut him.

If Allen gets a 2-3 year deal at 7-8 I think pep will want to hit the market.

I just don't see it. Why would Peppers want to stay in CHI for $5M? I bet there would be plenty of teams willing to offer that and he'd get to go exactly where he wants.

He could play with Lovie, go to a contender, or whatever. He really doesn't seem to into football at this point in his career.

Did seem like he wasn't all that into it this year.

Yeah, Peppers kind of seems over it.

But anyway, I think having Wootton and Bennett would be an interesting combination. They are basically the same type of player and very versatile on DT and DE.

The problem is that we don't have a good defensive coach that could be creative with that imo.

If the bears get Bennett n look at Jared Allen price wise I would lose my shit... Allen is awesome n IMO would look great In a Bears uniform; doubt it but it'd be sick of they could pull it off..

Never really watched Bennett's game, is he pretty good? His numbers are okay.. Can he be double digit sack guy?

I remember the Mario Williams rumors also.Mainly because Aaron Rodgers nearly shit himself and tweeted a thank you to MW for not signing with the Bears.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
the sources are there and its pretty specific, of course its not a sure thing, BUT its not some vague "nfl source" and it does not mention any other teams involved. I would say there is pretty good chance of this going down

Am I the only guy who isn't really excited about this pickup? Don't get me wrong, Bennett is a good player and he played a really big part in Seattle's run to the Superbowl but this isn't like when we first signed Julius, he just doesn't make the same impact and I think we are going to overpay for a guy to be our #1 pass rusher who has never registered a double digit sack season in his 6 year career. Bennett isn't exactly a young guy either as he will be turning 29 this upcoming season. I don't think he is exactly "proven" either. He had one good season in TB and then came back to Seattle where he had another good season but on a pretty stout defense and he was actually a situational type player playing in only 57% of the teams snaps....In comparison, Julius Peppers played 80% of the snaps for the Bears this season...

I like the pickup but I am not ecstatic. Would have much rather had the younger, better physical specimen in Michael Johnson who was a legitimate starter (played 84% of snaps). Hopefully the media has it wrong and it's Michael Johnson they are really after.

I would assume Bennett would be the cheaper of the two so hopefully there are some solid, underrated signings to go along with this one. Either way, I like the guy and will cheer for him no matter what.

I'm cool w Michael Bennett , I'd like to know more from those that have seen his game; if he is that good.

Id seriously freak out if they somehow got Jared Allen in the mix too w Bennett Allen n a first round DT..

Good luck

just another reason HBO will be doing whatever they can to get bears to sign off on Hard Knocks this season.

Why doesn't that include the bears? They had a legitimate offense last year that could win a title. It was the defense he was a part of that really cost the team. As such, he knows better than most what the problems were. If they are bringing in players to fix those problems he knows exactly what he's getting into. If someone is offering him more money then sure I can see the logic.

offense last year that could win a title. .

The homerism on the board is absurd sometimes. You really think we would win @Seattle last year or even vs. SF? Win 4 playoff games in a row with Cutler at QB? :smh::smh::smh::smh:

Real question is how much are we going to spend on him. Probably get creative with the cap but have to expect a 5 year deal right?

IMO this move-assuming we have to cut pep-doesn't make us better, just younger.
