I have a puppy that eats anything it she can put in her mouth. I figure I am in for surgery before it is all said and done. How much did they rape you for the surgery?
It was a complete blockage, and his life was in fairly immediate danger, so if course it was classified as emergency surgery. On top of that, they said his white blood cell count spiked when I went to pick him up, so I had to leave him an extra day to make sure it wasn't complications from the surgery. I think that was bs, but it brought the total just over 4k. Most expensive free animal I've ever had.

And I caught it early. Later with a more serious issue and I probably would've had no choice but to put him down because of cost. The quote stretched it to begin with, but I couldn't put down a one year old animal with no other health issues. Felt like I was killing him. Had to apply for their Care credit so I get 0% for 18 months

I'm about to get pet insurance since I'm this invested now

Last night I gave the chins a special treat.

Fresh box of Cheerios, but I dipped a few in a tiny bit of real honey.

Lots of happy noises lol.

It's been over two weeks now and he's back to normal, running around wreckin shit. Those first few days after I picked him up tho, he really seem to appreciate me saving his life. Maybe that's just in my head lol

Thanks. He's back to normal now. I'm the process of getting insurance quotes. All this for a cat I didn't even think I'd like and just took him on to kill bugs and because he was free lol

I have Embrace pet insurance. I did file a claim just a few months after getting the puppy for 850.00. She found my wifes "special" cookie. They paid no problem. Next year I am going to drop the deductible from 500 to 250.00 The one thing they will not cover for the first 6 months without a form from the vet is orthopedic. But I believe all pet insurers have this stipulation. I am past the 6 months so no longer a concern.

My little buddy was vomiting for a couple days and ended up having an intestinal blockage. I had to save him.

Nice looking cat. That sucks. What did they say was stuck in its intestines? I would have told them I require they save it for me.

If something like that happens in the future, I suppose you can always get a 2nd opinion. A cat can get an intravenous bag of fluids to add a couple days of waiting. I have no idea if they can give the cat a shot to help dissolve or excite the intestines... or I would suppose depending on what the blockage is, it might continue to dissolve and work its way through, maybe some manual massage or activity. I'd be depending on the 2nd opinion about that.

But ya know, saving a life isn't something you're gonna regret.
