Dudes got a better arm at 43 than he did at 23. Unreal.
If that were true it would be unreal. You seen his arm lose strength during the packer game and luckily they didn’t need his arm at the end of the super bowl. He still has arm strength but it’s not as good as it was 10, 15 years ago.

Arm strength and mobility are the traits meatballs drool all over but they are lower class traits for a successful nfl QB.

Being able to read a defense, accuracy, and pocket presence are far and away the most important traits for a qb. Mac Jones succeeding or not won't have much to do with his lack of mobility or arm strength.

So extending a play for your wr's to get open is a "lower class trait". Being able to avoid a collapsing pocket, not take a sack and make a play is a "lower class trait" to a successful Qb? C'mon msadows u can't believe that.

Mac Jones hits recivers 40+ yards down the field in stride his arm stregnth is fine. If I was a betting man I would bet the Pats draft him. Not saying him or any QB will be Brady but he reminds me of him and I'm sure Bellichick wouldn't pass on that. Lots of Pats fans want him too.

I was with you this entire thread until this post. His arm is not better now than when he was 23. It's worse, but not much, but worse

Just in my observation I've found that arm strength is the one trait that sees the most development over the transition from college to pro's. You almost never see guys like Chad Pennington who flat don't have the arm playing much anymore. I think NFL "strength and conditioning" has gotten to the point where they know how to make these guys all into relative cannons.

Its accuracy that seems to be the much more elusive side of the arm talent equation. Some guys have it college and it disappears in the pros, some guys never have it in either and some keep getting more accurate the longer they are in the league. Unlike arm strength I think accuracy is almost entirely mental and if a quarterback has the same acuity for reading defenses and remaining calm and in control then he'll probably also be pretty accurate.

I like Mac Jones a lot. If the Bears select him at twentieth overall I'd be pleased.

I think he arm is better now than it was twenty years ago, but not better now than it was when Brady was in the heat of his prime breaking records.

If Jones can't get very good pass pro on the majority of pass plays, what good is he gonna be to us if he drops to 20? During the NC the announcers mentioned and joked about him not wanting to leave the pocket.

This goes for every quarterback. Pat Mahomes looked like Mitch Trubisky when his line fell apart. If the Bears intend on "fixing" the quarterback position without at the same time making significant upgrades from Charles Leno Jr. and Bobbie Massie then it'll just fail. Doesn't matter who they put behind center.

Remember a while back when the Bears had a QB with an absolute fucking cannon of an arm? Was it Joe someone?

Well there are a few Qb's who can make things happen on the move. Mahomes OL had injuries and Reid didn't adjust. But the majority of the time Mahomes doesn't need perfect pass pro to be effective. Jones does.
No that doesn't mean don't improve the Bear OL.

That's the concern and why we have heard rumors of the Bears moving to 12.

If he can start, he worth it. But I really wanted that 2nd rounder to target a tackle.

I agree not going to lie that's a real tough decision for Pace. If your Pace how do you not address getting a tackle in the first 2 rounds of the draft. Also if your Pace how do you not address getting a QB when you drafted 1 in 6 years. Pace also had never drafted a single OT in the first 5 rounds.

It's a tough decision but QB is the most important player and Pace has been decent at finding gems in the later rounds. Maybe he can find a gem at tackle in the 3rd or 4th round. At the same time finding someone better then Massie Ifedi Leno isn't really a high bar.
