If Mac Jones or Kyle Trask were on BYU , would we be talking about them? I highly doubt it.
The main reason why people don’t want Jones is because he played for Bama. Are you saying that if Jones looked as good as he did this year with much less talent around him that he wouldn’t be receiving as much attention?

I can't imagine thinking a slow pocket-passer is worth trading up for, for this team.

I actually could see Mac Jones having success in the NFL, maybe even very good success, if he landed in the right situation. I don't think there's any chance that a non-dynamic pocket-passer who can't create on his own has any success in Chicago.

If they don't go the veteran route, the Bears better get a guy who can break the pocket, create time, and run if need be. Welcome to 2021. Welcome to the modern NFL.

This. Unless you have the GOAT, you need a QB that can make plays with his feet. Even Drew Brees went the last decade without a SB appearance because stationary QBs are not as difficult to game plan against

I think I remember that's why Watson fell partially because they said his velocity was low and had a weak arm. Fucking scouts

Sounds identical to the scouting report of Nick Foles going into this season

And he won a Super Bowl

Meanwhile how many fast QBs have won one? How many Mike Vicks and Lamar Jacksons?

Steve Young.

Steve Young could throw. Steve Young was pass first.

Point is, I'd rather have the slow guy who can read the field and is accurate than a Lamar Jackson, who is overrated and it shows when he plays good teams

There isn't a vet QB outside of Watson who meets your criteria, and the reality is that Watson isn't coming to Chicago. The Bears need a layered solution that includes drafting / developing a young QB and improving on Foles as the bridge.

If you watched tape on Jones, you'd know he isn't slow. He just doesn't have plus athleticism. After Trubisky, I'd much rather have a smart, decisive QB with a quick release and accuracy.

Actually Young was a 'dual-threat' Qb. He got better as a passer when he hooked up with a guy who understood the passing game. Bill Walsh.

Right now Jackson is does not have a guy who understands the passing game in greg roman

I wouldn't call 25 yards a game a dual threat. He was a great passer that ran a when it was there

But he did his work through the air

Can't say the same for some of the QBs who are labeled dual threats

If you build the offensive line quarterback success will follow. Unless its the Browns.

I think Mac Jones will be better than 2 of Lawrence, Fields, Wilson and Lance.

He is too accurate, too good within the pocket, and too good at diagnosing and reacting to coverages not to be.
