I was wondering after seeing all of the threads about Alshon and the fact that he's made Brandon Marshall pretty much expendable, and seeing that Earl Bennett is probably done producing for the season (let's face it, Trestman put those incentives in his contract like he did for a reason, he knows Earl is just kind of a here and there kind of player) do you guys think we see more of Marquis in the final couple of games? The kid isn't afraid of going over the middle because he's not as fragile as Earl and we really need a slot guy to replace Marshall when the Bears let him walk with Cutler next season. Seems like a pretty good plan to see what this kid has got.

I don't know, I think one could attribute a good chunk of Jefferys success to Marshall just being on the field & drawing coverage. Any way you slice it I hope the Bears have an explosive WR tandem on the outside in hopes that Wilson can top things off in the lot.

*EDIT: I just bit on sarcasm didn't I?

The thing is, how many hip surgeries can Marshall ensure before is wheels fall off? Sure he's been pretty good for the bears but I'm curious why he didn't take Wilson under his wing like he did with Alshon? Maybe this kid is a threat?

hahaha guys, so I guess you just want the bears to keep fielding your favorite players forever? It doesn't work like that. That's why there's the draft. I'm just saying there is a REASON why Marquis is on the 53 man roster and Emery and Trestman know better than a bunch of armchair GMs on a message board.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Wilson is a rookie and when Marshall was training Jeffery Wilson was in church praying someone was going to pick him in the draft.

It would be great to see Marshall and Jeffery both take Wilson under their wing this coming offseason.

Problem with this might be Marshall may have learned something from this. He has to share reception and the spotlight with the monster he created this season. Does he want to make this duo a trio next season?

I've said it before. He needs to be willing to run block if he wants more field time. He looked unworthy a few times throughout the year being on field.

You got me. My thing is that I hope that Emery keeps the talent flow coming at the WR position. This is nice for a change. This is a big reason that I liked the idea/article that a poster put out a while back with the Bears signing Graham if he hit the market. Having Jeffery, Forte, M.Bennett, Graham & hopefully Wilson in the fold would still make for a lethal offense. I do think the Bears saw that Wilson needed to mature physically, I think at his weight /frame he would get mangled in the pro's, also mature personally with his character, & intellectually to learn the playbook for a season so they went right ahead, stashed him on the PS to develop, & weren't shy about it. I was hoping that's what they would do. Marshall didn't work as much with Jeffery as a rookie as he did this past offseason, at least based on reports in the media. I'd imagine if Wilson is considered as a serious roster spot on the 53 that Marshall & Jeffery will have no gripes taking him under their guidance.

Yep. You have to love the job that Marshall/Jeffery do as blockers for the most part & just don't think Wilson had the frame/weight to hold up season long.

I have a question. What has Emery or Trestman said or done that even remotely suggests that Cutler will not be signed to an extention? Everything that has been said and done by the GM and HC points to the fact that Cutler is their guy. The Bears finally have the players, coach and scheme that catapulted the Bears O out of the 1950's and can hang with the best in the NFL.
Anyone who actually thinks that Emery is going to let Cutler walk next year is really delusional.

How did a thread about Wilson turn into a Cutler thread?

Yes - and now that the playoffs are on the line, I really want to see more of Michael Ford spelling Forte as well. Forte only had a year or two at best left in him so we should see what we have in Ford now
