I honestly believe Jay is going to take the blame for terrible coaching. Not that Jay is great, but we've seen him do better with much less talent

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
Oh please. The bears want Cutler to succeed. They need him to succeed. He is not a freaking sacrificial lamb. ****, since Emery arrived, every decision made has been aimed at helping Cutler to succeed.

Take any of the top QBs in the league and they would light shit up on this team, right now, as it is. Bears did their best to give Cutler everything he needed the past 2 years. So if he fails in that situation, then yeah, its going to affect peoples' opinion of him.

I agree that JA hung Cutler out to dry, but the opposite has been true under Emery.

He might as well have the charter to the franchise with what has been given to him the past 2 seasons.

It's an interesting point. I've been a Cutler wait n see supporter for years now. I've tired of it. I'm pretty much close to being done. So, I like your question... So, another team with a weak performing, but full talent QB like Cutler... would they switch up? I mean, who's available for a straight up swap... and would anyone, if we put the salary into speakable form...

No clue how to get it done, but would any other team trade their QB straight up for Cutler... and would Trestman be able to work them?

Somehow, on all fronts, it doesn't seem to work. And this is the problem. This is going to be an interesting off season, that is for sure.

See, I'm not sure we have. He's on pace to set all of Kramer's records, all the while being mediocre in the NFL for all those records, AND being # 1 in Turnovers (Yah baby yah)...

So, he's done pretty darn good on paper this year. So the talent, injured, penalty ridden, turnover bidden, has worked out to make him still 'look the part'. Weird world we've all slid into...

If we weren't talking about finding a 3rd GM, 3rd HC, 5th OC, and 6th QB coach I would be much more inclined to blame coaching.

Imo, Emery built the Bears to succeed through the QB position and Cutler buckled under the pressure. Now, yeah there is a lot more going on than just that. But to me, that is the overarching scenario and the leading cause of the team being so terrible.

And to me, the QB needs to be able to handle that. If he can't, then he isn't good enough imo.

With these rumors I don't think I would be very motivated to play if I were Jay. Or maybe I'd throw 4 TD's, 0 int's and say, "Trade me right fucking now!" like the goalie in Slap Shot. Although I don't think they are allowed to trade him right fucking now.

He played way better under Martz. Even while getting beat to death. At least from my eye test. IDK though.

Jay was always the sacrificial lamb in Chicago

Angelo brought him here wih no weapons, no protection for years, got his brain beat in...by the time the Lovie era ended Cutler had already earned so much enmity from fans and the media that the writing was on the wall this year, if he didnt set the world on fire he'd be blamed.

Give it a fucking rest. blah blah blah. Oline. blah blah blah. coaches. blah blah blah. receivers. The excuses are fucking laughable now.

He's not the sacrificial lamb. He's the reason you're pissed off with our last 6 years.

Keep making excuses. Cutler fanboys are almost worse than Theo fanboys these days.

So basically its cool to build around a qb after beating his ass and expecting different results?

I don't hate Cutler. I hate the team losing. And because I have shitloads of access to all-22 film that highlights him costing us downs, yards, drives and TD's, I have - after years of supporting him, had no choice but to give.

Just like the experts, ex-QB's, ex-players who know the game, and now Bears seem to now have done.

By the time Emery got here the town was already divided into pro and anti Cutler camps. He was the sacrificial lamb in the Angelo/Lovie era

The writing has been on the wall ever since the Trestman hire, if Cutler didn't succeed he'd be outta here. So this is a surprise to nobody. The only surprise here is that the Bears FO actually has the balls to cut the cord after all this time

In the past I think the consensus was that Jay was in the 8-15 range as far as NFL QB's ranked and that was with mediocre receivers. Now he's loaded and sucks? (I don't think he does, he just needs to eliminate turnovers, everything else is high). This is a coaching issue.

lets not pretend like Cutler isn't still an enigmatic and enticing figure around some NFL minds. There's a reason he might still be tradable. If everyone just agreed he sucks, we wouldn't be in this problem. Cutler is just good enough to give people false hope.

I agree with Packer Fan. Therefore I'm probably wrong. :(

Everyone knows he is playing like shit, including the players.

They also know under Emery this team was built around Cutler, he got huge money, and he collapsed under the pressure and attention.

I would suspect that over the next couple of weeks we will hear more of this. As the season ends guys start thinking about their own jobs, especially when any hope of this season turning around has ended. My guess is we will hear a lot about Cutler and Trestman.
