You answered, in typical Remy fashion, nothing. Either it does, or it doesn't.

My god, these are the dumbest conversations. Page after page of people who don't agree with each other, will never agree, yet feel the need to keep droning on about it like something positive or enlightening will come of it. The worst of the worst on the forums.

It becomes exhausting but they'll just go back and forth all day with the "you're not answering my question" posts....lol. They really have a lot of time on their hands.

I'm sure you amuse yourself. Your broken (and inaccurate record) is a real hoot. You're a forum superstar. I don't want to distract you from your enlightening, open minded, and respectful conversation with remy. Please proceed.

Other than the reports of the money he wants, is there anything that causes you to think this? Because prior to this week, I would have put Glennon in that category with guys like Hoyer and Foles as your potential stop gap types.

Foles has a career 94.8 PR if you pull out the disastrous year with the Rams under Jeff Fisher, who could make Tom Brady look like Carig Krenzel. Even with it, his PR is 88.1, which is still better than jay. Also, if you pull out the ST Louis year, Foles has almost a 3-1 TD to INT ratio (49-17). Even with it, his TD INT ratio is better than 2-1. He has a much stronger arm than Hoyer, which is critical as we've watched Hoyer struggle on med-deep routes and in the red zone.

If you're going stopgap while giving the stopgap guy a chance to prove himself, Foles is a cheaper alternative with a resume that shows he has some talent if put in the right situation.

I'm honestly confused here. Why can't the Bears sign Glennon and simply draft a QB when it makes sense given their QB evaluations. If they have all the QBs as late first round to early second round then couldn't they simply take someone else at 3 and then draft the best QB that is left in the 2nd round?

It just seems like a lot of crying based on assumptions. If the Bears sign Glennon and then don't draft a QB prospect at all then I could understand the crying but if they sign Glennon and draft a QB in the first 3 rounds then I don't see what the crying is all about.

I mean I am the first to say I think the 3rd pick should be Watson and to hell with everything else but I think it is entirely possible they want to sign Glennon because it gives them the flexibility to take BPA. Maybe the BPA in the first round will be a QB or maybe not. Maybe the BPA in the second round will be a Mahomes or a Kaaya or maybe one of the top 3 drop to the 2nd round.

I just don't see what is up with all the doom and gloom as if there aren't scenarios where the Bears sign Glennon plus draft a QB.

I think the Bears still draft a qb with Glennon. Just not necessarily at 3. I don't have an issue with it. In fact, I might have more of an issue if they gave Glennon 14Mil and then drafted a qb at 3

I'm not arguing about who's better, I was curious about your initial statement.

You said that if they were looking for a stop gap they could have signed Foles, but with Glennon it won't be a stop gap, but it would their major effort to address the position.

What I don't understand is why you think guys like Foles and Hoyer would be stop gaps but Glennon would be more than that. Because to me, Glennon is another of these stop gap type guys along with Foles and Hoyer, so I'm not sure what it is about him specifically that you think it would be more than a stop gap.

Other than they money that's been rumored he's looking for, I mean. Because I don't think he'll be getting 14 million bucks a year. Is there anything, other than the money, that makes you think Glennon would be more than a stop gap?

Still makes no sense... Why the **** would you pay Glennon $14/15M to be a temporary stop gap when you could sign Hoyer again to do the same thing for $2M?!?

Maybe the deal will be significantly less plus incentives. Hoyer didn't get let go late this year, after everyone made their QB choice and will earn a lot more than that.

Because, signing Glennon to a "market level" contract gives the Bears a built-in excuse for why they yet again passed on quality QB talent so they can dumpster dive in the later rounds on yet another David Fales type prospect.

The only thing is accomplishes is increasing the odds the Bears sit there waiting for some amazing value pick in the 4th or 5th that never amounts to jack shit.

Unless Pace's plan is to tank with Glennon this year and shoot for another top 3 pick so he can actually draft a QB next year in the supposedly better QB draft class which I'm sure everyone will say sucks next March... in which case all I can say is what. the. ****. :bizarro: It's fucking insanity. :bizarro: Do you people enjoy pissing away yet another year for no particular reason?

Only in Chicago does a fanbase actually defend and rationalize a GM go into year 4 of a "rebuild" still needing to draft his QB of the future.

It's entirely about the money and the contract. It's hard to imagine giving a QB 14-15 mil and expect that he's a stopgap. If I see a team friendly contract for Glennon that doesn't include much guaranteed money, I'll change my opinion of the deal. But if it's a multi year deal at 15 ml per year and 20+ guaranteed, there is no way to justify it when Foles is out there with more experience, better stats, the same age and the same arm strength at a discount.

Eh I don't really care to be honest as you can't just predict who will be there at 3. If they literally have Trubisky as the slam dunk franchise QB and everyone else as guys that are projects then I have no problem with them signing Glennon because they can't be sure Trubisky will be there at 3.

If they have Watson/Kizer/Trubisky as rated as worthy of a top 3 pick then signing Glennon makes less sense. We just don't know what their QB evaluations are at this point.

Except you ignored the premise of my entire post. They can sign Glennon and still draft a QB in the top 3 rounds. Until such time that they bypass drafting a QB because of Glennon, all you are doing is getting worked up over a scenario that isn't any more likely than the one I presented. Or do you have some inside scoop at Halas Hall that says drafting Glennon means they will not draft a QB in the first 3 rounds?

Signing a FA to hedge your bets on draft day because you're not sure who will be available makes sense. It makes less sense when you're sitting on the #3 pick in the draft and everyone knows a freak DE is going #1, and the team sitting at #2 has their eyes set on Kirk Cousins... but it still makes sense in theory....

Where your premise falls apart is at signing a never-was in Glennon to some $14/15M deal simply to hedge your bets on draft day. If you're looking for a 1 year stop-gap, I'm sorry, but that's just fucking Special person. Hoyer can fill that role for a fraction of the price.

Legit franchise QBs get around 18 to 25 million a year. Anything less than that and the person is most likely on a rookie deal still or isn't really considered a definitive franchise QB.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/brock-osweiler-9867/

As bad as the above contract looks now, at the end of the day this will be a 2 year 37 million dollar contract at 18.5 million a year. Next year Osweiller will be cut and the only cap hit will be the acceleration of the SB he already received.

So if you tried to imagine the worst case scenario for Glennon it would basically be a 4 year contract that ultimately guarantees 28-30 all paid in the first 2 years of the contract. To make that happen you could lower the signing bonus to say 8 million which and adjust the roster bonus down in which case his cap hit if he is cut after 2 years would be 4 million (2 million * 2).

So where is the problem here? There is no way he is making Osweiller money and even if you modify his contract to be identifical to Osweiller but make it so it's 14-15 million a year, he will still be able to be cut after year 2 with a modest cap hit.

So it's a lot of crying over nothing IMO especially if as it's being alleged now, the Bears are bidding against themselves.

The price is steep but he did show huge upside his rookie year. Lovie ruined the team his 2nd year and he aint starting over Winston. We have plenty of money its worth a gamble.

If Pace drafts a capable rookie that takes the starting job from money bags Mike Glennon in preseason, it will make him look like a fool. He will scout these QB's carefully and select one that will not embarrass his big free agent signing immediately.
