Is it too early to start at the front of the fan club for turkey neck chicken leg puppy monkey baby? Yeahhhhhhh!!!! I say again my Bears brothers...yeahhhhhhhhhh. oooooohhhhhhh. To quote Arnold Swarzenegger most time appropriate and opportunistically..."its like I'm cumming all the time? You know? At the gym I'm cumming. I'm cumming in the mirrior in the bathroom you see? Cumming with my wife. And then maybe some pushups in the bathroom...I'm cumming again. Yes?"

Say it with me.....

Glennnnnnnnoonnnnnnn. Glennnnnnnnnoonnnnn. Yeahhhhhhhhhh. We got Puppy Monkey Ginger mother *******!!! suck our dick. You can has Winston. We'll take the guy that never got the proper look. You can write that book. Glennon was alllll, it took.

He carried the Bears. The mighty champion. His eyes will turn as red as the flames on his head.
The flame in his heart, they will never extinguish.

Ok....now..stategally. Lets look at this, through the mist. I'm there my friends. In the fog. Now...I can hear the whispers on the wind...and collective...the energy of all life, how does a spider walk without a brain? What could our brain do if it were the size of a spider friend? Could we walk to the store, and buy milk?
OMellllloott. I just want to say...**** you. For no reason except I'm manic or high on drugs or whatever and its on my mind.
Its probably a state such as this, where I originally connect eggs to being green, and yellow, and pegged you for a Packer troll. My old nemisis. If I was wrong. I apoligize...for everything. Except the text above. That you can keep.

Moving on...strategy....

Pace. Well...please god I just hope we know Barkley is in the competition. I hope its a 3 way competition and I ain't talking about Shaw or Hoyer. Although, if Pace doesn't draft a QB at all...I'll be wrong...and I have to respect him. Balls. That would be big balls, and sticking to his game. Wow. Ok...I could be wrong...

but Glennon is a look at a player who deserves a second chance, that has some upside, that has had some time since we saw them last, exposure to different coaches and systems, and is looking to compete for a starting job somewhere and get his next chance. Why wouldn't we be that guy that gives him a chance?

Its also an expensive smokescreen. From a strategy stand point whether intentional or not. Everyone will take us off #3 QB watch because we payed so much money. I mean almost BECAUSE we made a franchise investment (at a good value if it panned out), but as a smoke screen value immediately.

Look...now Cleveland weighs what they hold at #11 differently, because they view #3 going down differently "in probability." With Garrett the massive temptation to risk it...it could be enough where they hope their QB is there at 11.

Am I too far off base on that domino effect of this move? Because this move at 15,000,000 has that effect, I have to wonder if Pace is an evil genius.

And evil genius would have their eye on a QB, either Trubs, or Kizer, or Watson....and really want them. That could be "THE PLAN" as in a masterplan. And they know they want Glennon either way. Paying him dramatically and outbidding everyone...is kinda funny. But it also does this.

It sends a message that we really have our eye on someone, and we will smile big in the media and say he is the man. Would be crazy if Jeffery got on board and doubled down on his Super Bowl guarantee. Like if it was orchestrated with Pace/Jeffery.

Then bam we draft DeShaun Watson or Trubs or Kizer...all 3 can run and throw. It would be a sharp move. I'm gonna give up trying to guess between all these QB's. I'm not close enough to the process. Don't know the weight room reports, the trainer reports, the doctor reports, the home ed teacher in high school interview. We have to give Pace the benifit of the doubt sometimes. He has access to alot of information we don't have the privilege too.

So in Pace we trust. Suspension of disbelief. Maybe he is not an idiot. Ok? Maybe? That tranlates to **** Omelotte to some...but to me...I don't know. Maybe he IS an idiot. He either is or he isn't.

If he is not, I think Glennon served as a nice smokescreen whoever his QB preference is. And who cares what round it is, or he schemes to try to get it done. This is Paces show, its interesting. If he likes Kaaya who they scouted extensively for years for instance, and he trusts it because he knows of him so well...well...he still gets better value potentially after the Glennon move.

Barkley. Glennon. Kaaya (or any other QB). Is doing his job finally.

1st round. Genius smokescreen.
2nd round. Brilliant.
3rd round. Nice job well done.
4th round. Damn. We drafted Kelly or couldn't pass on somebody interesting who fell and Pace is one crazy mother ****** with giant balls. Shaven. But giant balls.
5th round. Again. If Pace were to pull a QB from any round at this point he is on a whole other level of genius from any of us. He is beyond my comprehension of what the potential for alien intelligence capacities could be.

So...in conclusion. The Glennon move is brilliant, because it makes Pace look brilliant whatever round he now drafts a QB in, or as a bridge to a QB he has his eyes on (using Fox as his 2017 fall guy) and landing a Donald or Jackson.

This is one way that grabbing a talent from another team as your "start now guy" while grooming a draft pick at some point, is superior to just staying with Barkley or Hoyer.

If we stay with just Barkley or Hoyer, the whole world thinks we are locked onto drafting somebody. They are trying to guess who and when and thinking about jumping us.

I think this takes us down a notch on the radar.

Barkley vs Glennon/Garrappollo and then a rookie, plus Shaw on PS would be a nice collection to be sifting through for the next year and a half.

It comes down to the cost between Glennon and Garroppollo. One is cash. One is debilitating, when he could just be had in 2018 (hometown Jimmy anyone?)

So...Jimmy might actually stay in New England and back-up Brady next year. Insurance is worth alot when your QB is 40.

Or Jimmy could deny extension to the Browns who made that risk and won with Collins. And become available.

So why not look at Glennon for no cost of picks? Then get Garrappolo for no cost of picks if it doesn't work out?

GLENNON GLENNON GLENNON!!!

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Ginger bush fire!! The first Chicago QB...a fire breathing Ginger for the city known for fire. Destiny. His aerodynamic super neck will crane and cut through the wind with super effeciency as he scans the field over the Lines warring beneath him.

His bionic super-neck will rotate left, then right, as easily escapes the rush and steps into safety and his speedy receivers darting too and fro.

The world ain't ready for Glennon/Fangio mother *******. Now get that man a secondary Pace!! Like a badass one. Complete that D....find me that back-up NT we need, and find me another edge piece to replace Houston. Or Houston rebirth? Dead? not dead? new piece? we shall see. Super Floyd?Yoked?

Super White? Yoked? Super Merideth? Yoked? Yes please. And may Braverman morph into Julian Edelman.

GLENNON GLENNON GLENNON!!!!

We did it now boys. We did it now. 4-12

Do not question da Rask

Not the ones who say "Pace is bidding against himself" to get clicks.

If all is true, what teams would actually show their hand before its all said and done? Is it just the contract? Is it that Glennon wants to be here? Does Pace just have a hard on for him? Who knows, it could be a hundred things.

Everyone else bowed out (except Pace) when they learned of Glennon's contract demands.

What is the possibility that the Bears put out this idea of $14-15 million to drive out interest from other teams that do not have the cap space the Bears do, the Bears then wait until other QB needed teams make their moves, and then the Bears sign Glennon for less? Say $10-12 million?

Or is this a NORAD was told to stand down on 9-11 way of thinking?

The Bears aren't this smart.

If this deal is built on performance bonuses, which it appears to be now, then I'm completely fine with this move. If he makes 14-15M then he put up great numbers and he's suddenly a steal. If Pace doesn't like any QB in the early rounds in this draft, which is a real possibility, then I applaud him taking a chance on a guy that has the potential to have a higher ceiling than we've seen previous. I seriously question the football intelligence of the draft a QB in the 1st of bust crowd. That's just a terrible philosophy.

Holy cow...if they have Trubisky as the slam dunk franchise QB, why would they take the chance and sit on their hands, hoping he falls to them at #3? Put together some type of Carson Wentz package and move up one or two spots and draft Trubisky.

You are basically saying that the Bears have their savior within reach, but they feel comfortable signing Mike Glennon and letting the chips fall where they may. Sounds like more 'dereliction of duty' from Pace.

Well for one because your evaluation could be wrong and for two because the cost may be too high for their tastes just like it was when they tried to trade up for Mariotta. Not to mention, trying to trade up when Hoyer is your best QB on the roster is a little different than trying to do so with Glennon. Not every GM is going to pull a Ditka or Shannahan and trade a **** ton of picks for the one guy they love because we saw with Ditka and Shanahan that shit doesn't always work out.

So much wrong here. First, in response to the bold, Flynn's deal was 3yr/$19M with $9M guaranteed. At the time, it was bargain basement salary for an NFL starter. Second, Wilson was a mid round choice. It worked out for the Seahawks because Wilson proved to be a really good QB...what the Seahawks 'did' was pretty stupid and by no means should serve as a 'blueprint'. The financials worked out because of Wilson's tiny rookie contract...Flynn's contract was inconsequential. It could have been for $9M or $49M. This goes back again (yawn) to what I have already said...if your 'plan' is to sign Glennon and draft a QB in the 3rd round, then you are proactively choosing to make Glennon as your starting QB. If you actually think that Glennon is NO BETTER than a mid-round rookie, then its a terrible idea to enter a season with Glennon and a mid-round rookie as your top QB options.

I am telling you what NFL.com said the contract was worth. If you have another source that contradicts this then feel free to share it.

And your whole argument is stupid. Once again teams can acquire more than 1 QB they think will be good QBs in the NFL. They can sign Glennon because they think he can be a good QB. They can also draft a QB in one of the first 3 rounds and think he can be a good QB. In that scenario, you have two QBs you think are good and may the best man win. There is no scenario where what Seattle did was stupid.

This is precisely what Seattle did. They acquired 2 guys they thought could be good QBs and the best man won. Good teams routinely have been known to try and acquire more than 1 good QB so not sure your aversion to the Bears doing so.

Good to see some fans looking at the QB situation with some clarity and common sense.

I don't think many posters understand how difficult it is draft a quality quarterback and just how many teams have wasted their 1st round selections on guys that had little chance of making it.

Since Pace has been here our draft selection has always followed after the elite QB prospets have been off the board. Except for Prescott, there has been nobody available that is quality.

Ian Rapoport was on NFL Network and believes the Bears have a deal about done with Glennon. It will only be a 3 year deal around $15 mil per year. Again, the guarantee means everything but rarely do 3 year deals have a ton of guaranteed money.

This sounds like Glennon is basically going to be signed to start with a non-committed contract where they can move on, trade him as early as next year. Its almost certainly a deal where they still draft a QB.

Call him a bridge QB I guess, but a bridge QB that has youth and upside.

You don't understand contracts. The $26M number you erroneously and continuously cite includes every possible 'escalator' that Flynn could have hit during the duration of his contract, of which he hit none. That would be like saying since Jay Cutler has a $100M bonus if he wins the Super Bowl, that his contract is 7yr/$226M...and then when that contract expires and no Super Bowl is won, you STILL refer to that contract as being $226M. Just ridiculous.

Holy **** dude, I already covered this in post 266.

http://www.chicitysports.com/forum/...n-Expected-To-Land-14-15-Mil-Per-Season/page7

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...qb-matt-flynn-agree-to-threeyear-26m-contract

Flynn's contract was worth up to 26 million. He simply didn't earn all of it because his sucked. a 3 year 26 million contract represents a higher percent of salary cap than what Glennon's contract is likely to represent in 2017 because the cap went up. So once again signing Glennon to a reasonable deal is not going to prevent the Bears from competing if he sucks. What the Seahawks did was smart because they signed a guy in FA and then drafted a guy they thought had potential. Wilson just delivered on that potential earlier than what they had anticipated but there is nothing stupid about acquiring two QBs you think have potential.

Like you are literally trying to take credit for something I already said days ago. When people quote contracts, they quote the full value of the contract because that is what was agreed and the team doesn't know at the time whether the player will live up to the contract or not.

Flynn never made it to his 3rd year. He was traded to the Raiders and cut by them 6 months later. So even if we accept you were just referring to money paid you would still be wrong because the money paid was not over 3 years since he was cut before the 3rd year.

So you are simply wrong on both fronts. One either says Royal signed a 3 year deal worth 15 million or that he was paid 10 million over 2 years before being cut. It would be stupid to say he signed a 3 year deal worth 10 million.

That's a complete line of BS right there. I can fix it for you though........

Contract value with incentive clauses are calculated on the clauses/incentives in which the player can reasonably obtain. It is the same way that cap (of those contracts) is calculated.

You guys are pathetic. In 2012 when he signed NFL.com And ESPN called it 3 years and 26 million.

In 2016 when Osweiller signed his deal and Flynn responded they said Flynn signed 3 years and 26 million.

That is 3 major websites/news organizations 4 years apart that agree with me.

Rory has provided no source for his claims but you are so butthurt with me that you joined in his stupidity.

You guys are wrong. Sorry.

Why can he only draft a second stringer?

That's all we're told is available in this QB class . . .

. . . but just wait till next year ... or the year after that ... or the year after that . . .

. . . for Ryan Pace, drafting a quarterback is very, very scary . . .

The more I think about this the more I think this whole story is just Smoke.. The only team I actually read linked to Glennon was the Jets saying he is not worth 14MM. If the Bucs actually offered him 8MM (which I don't believe) he would be a fool not to take it. I wouldn't offer him any more then 5MM. Mike Glennon is NOT a starting QB.

Indeed, 'chise, indeed . . . The Bears' "crack" PR staff is out there trying to snow the fans into believing just how hard they are trying to compete with everybody else in the NFL by getting an honest-to-Halas quarterback in town.

Of course, being the Bears, and completely out of touch with actual NFL talent, they zero their PR efforts in on Mike Glennon of all people, nevermind the fact that far better smokescreens like Tyron Taylor or even Tony Romo are out there.

In the end, the Bears will fade away and explain their inaction on what appears to be an overly-inflated asking price for Glennon, who in no way is worth $14 million.

Then, they won't draft a quarterback either, until maybe the 5th or 6th round. Just not a good class this year, fellas.

So meet your 2017 starting quarterback - Jay Cutler. Everything old is new again . . .

You see, as soon as Ryan Pace drafts a quarterback, his clock starts ticking. Because he's neglected the position for so long, it's do or die with whomever he anoints as the future of the franchise. So why anoint anyone at all? The longer he delays, the longer he can milk the Bears for the paycheck he has proven with his inaction and indecisiveness he doesn't deserve.

Already cited sources. You don't understand contracts. I don't know what else I can say.

Quarterback Matt Flynn's new contract with the Seattle Seahawks is worth just about 15 times more than his old one with the Green Bay Packers.

His three-year, $19.5 million deal with Seattle averages $6.5M. The four-year contract that he signed with the Packers as a seventh-round draft choice in 2008 averaged $442,294.

Flynn received a $6M signing bonus and base salaries of $2M this season, $5.25M in 2013 and $6.25M in 2014. His base salary is guaranteed this season, and $2 million of his base salary in '13 also is guaranteed.

The total guaranteed money is $10M.

Flynn's contract also contains escalator clauses in 2013 and '14 that reportedly could increase the total value of the contract by another $5M.

Sorry where is the link? Putting stuff in italics is not providing a source. For all I know the source you are using also says 3 years and 26 million and you are just cherry picking the part of it that agrees with your rambling.

Further I already said he signed a 3 year 26 million deal and that he didn't see all of that money because he sucked. I said that days ago in post 266. I have provided 4 sources that confirm the amounts I cited. And by provided, I mean I actually lined to ESPN, NFL.com, Washington Post, and NESN so you could read the full article and see that they all said 3 years and 26 million.

I am well within my rights to quote 3 years and 26 million when 4 reputable news agencies quote those amounts. In doing so I acknowledged he didn't make the full amount because he sucked. So I am not sure what you are arguing.
