I really don't see Sandberg taking the Cards' job. He's a Cub first and foremost, even after what happened with him and Hendry. If Ryno doesn't get the managerial position here, I'd love to see him as a bench coach and possibly gain some major league experience so he could take over on the North side down the line.

I think he'll take what ever he can at this point. But the loyalty will seem right.

Via Buster Olney.

Theo Epstein reached out to Ryne Sandberg today, thru PHI, and explained to him he will not be a candidate for the Cubs' managerial job.

I like Brenly right where he is, in the booth. Plus I believe he doesn't fit what Epstein and Hoyer want in a manager.

Based on how well Dale Sveum is supposed to understand and embrace advanced baseball thinking, I think he might actually be a good candidate.

So finally Q is gone. But it sounds like no interest for Ryno. So we will probably just get another inexperienced manager.... Only time will tell.

You should ask Cpt Obvious if he's at the tinfoil hat meetings, and whether he needs to give the secret handshake or not.
