if francona gets hired, chicago will never hear the end of the whole "well theo and francona broke the curse in boston...." routine

Probably none of them. Dave Martinez sounded like the best candidate, but after spurning Ryno, Theo will probably stay away from that potential disaster

I'm pretty sure I've read where Francona isn't a serious option...Theo's ready for to move on from Francona (and willing to let TF do the same)...

If Joe Maddon was seriously an option....if he came to the northside.....

wow....

I'm sure you've all read the same thing I have...that the Cubs are going to bring in Dale Svuem for an interview after he interviews w/ Boston...He's the Brewers hitting coach...

wanting desperately to connect the dots -- even though i'm not sure about the likelihood.

Theo has personally called Ryno to tell him he will not be a coaching candidate for the Cubs, tho he hopes for the brightest of futures in baseball for Ryno. Ryno said it was a class move that wasn't needed, but very appreciated.

Personally, folks, Joe Maddon is my favorite manager in the MLB right now and if he somehow became available, Theo Epstein better jump on him immediately before interviewing anybody else. That guy is one of the most knowledgeable people in the game of baseball.

Joe Maddon is pretty cool but like most managers, he will do some dumb shit too  However he's probably going to just stay with the Rays as long as they will have him. Long shot.

I honestly don't think the Cubs' new braintrust would let Bob Brenly run the on-field product

I don't really see Brenly as an option. But you never know.

Brenly would be a terrible choice for a manager. See his comments on wanting Ramirez gone.

I like the idea of Dale Sveum or Mike Maddux. I just want a whole new on field management team.

I like the Bobby Valentine idea and the Joe Maddon idea. Personally I like how Valentine isn't afraid to call out a player even the face of the franchise like Castro. (Refer to the Cubs game on ESPN this year with Starlin not paying attention and eating sunflower seeds the whole half inning). I think you need that hard but respectable presence for the kids coming up now. And Maddon is just a good coach plain and simple. You could never go wrong picking him up if you can. But I think I would take Bobby V first.
