I like the Bobby Valentine idea and the Joe Maddon idea. Personally I like how Valentine isn't afraid to call out a player even the face of the franchise like Castro. (Refer to the Cubs game on ESPN this year with Starlin not paying attention and eating sunflower seeds the whole half inning). I think you need that hard but respectable presence for the kids coming up now. And Maddon is just a good coach plain and simple. You could never go wrong picking him up if you can. But I think I would take Bobby V first.

I like the Bobby Valentine idea too. The idea where we don't sign him.

Glad to see they aren't just making the easy choice and hiring Ryno. Now get a new stadium.

Brenly would be a terrible choice for a manager. See his comments on wanting Ramirez gone.
How dare someone have a differing opinion on Ramirez than the almighty CO

Theo has personally called Ryno to tell him he will not be a coaching candidate for the Cubs, tho he hopes for the brightest of futures in baseball for Ryno. Ryno said it was a class move that wasn't needed, but very appreciated.

Lold when I heared that.

my money is still on brenly

I don't see why not. Dude has cred, I can't think of another available baseball man out there.

I honestly don't think the Cubs' new braintrust would let Bob Brenly run the on-field product

What product, lol. You mean Starlin.

I mean that Bob Brenly is going to do all kinds of stuff to piss me off because he'll probably IBB and bunt as much as TLR and Ron Washington did in the World Series. Bob Brenly basically rode Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson to that World Series championship because he certainly didn't do much else to help the cause. When you've got Schilling and Johnson to eat innings, you don't need to manage unless you wanted to put a shell-shocked Byung-Hyun Kim in to blow the game. Plus he hasn't managed in years. Sure he knows the team, but his opinions annoy me.

So yes, I am anti-Brenly because he annoys me

The Cubs are interviewing Phillies' bench coach Pete Mackanin today, per Buster Olney.

Lolololol, that was a great. WS.
You sir have swayed my opinion on Brenly but its not like they need a championship manager, they don't have the pieces that would attract a guy like that.

The Cubs and Red Sox have both ask the Rangers to interview pitching coach Mike Maddux.
